Ok, today, I was betryaed by one of my best friends since 6th grade (im in 10th now) because basicaly they got pissed that I didnt come to school because there was a shooting threat, so they text messaged me a message basicaly calling me a coward, so I got upset and text messaged them back, then they text messaged back, then I texted my friend saying "dont even think about talking to me tommorow, asshole". How do I get over this and make new friends ?

If this is really something that is worth ruining a long friendship over than stand your ground, but make sure that it is worth it. I am currently in college and I don't talk to any of my high school friends because of something I thought was really important, but when I look back at it, it wasn't important enough to ruin a 4 year friendship with my 6 best friends. If it is worth it, get involved in different activities that interest you and you will meet people there.

ok so heres my story....i go to Memorial but i belong to another school(PSJA North)....me and my mom made a deal that if i passed the semester i would have the option of going to raiders...well i passed....and i wanna go back...but....i heard that theres alot of drama...and i dont need that. And also all the girls over there seem to be getting pregnant...and i dont want to be a teenage mother. What should i do?? i miss all my old friends...and i had to break up with my boyfriend because we were never going to be together....please help me out!!

didnt make the team at fall tryouts. i gave all my heart out. gave a great esay, stayed up late for tryouts. my "friend" made the team great for her. but now she acts like she doesent know me and treats me so badly. like only calls me when she needs help. what ev. if i decide to try out again. what can i do in order to make the team. please, there are no other sports in the winter that are interesting. plus the girls on the team we never seemed to talk to me. their not the type of people that i associate with. not the same interests, at least theones from middle school

I would suggest wearing something bright and kinda fancy not too fancy just has sum detail to it not plain or boring..and ur right don't wear black and white.. when it comes to makeup (DONT OVER USE THE MAKEUP) its nice to have a more natural look then a clutter of makeup on ur face...maybe a little coverup some eyeliner and cute lip gloss...and hair if u straighten ur hair then straighten it or u can curl it or moose it but don't put it up in a ponytail or bun..

You'll do great. I remember the horrible feeling of 9th grade starting, but you'll be suprised. It's not as scary as you think, and if you don't get into the bad crowd, etc, you'll be fine. Just hurry and get your stuff, get to class atleast one to one %26amp; 1/2 minutes early because 1. teachers like that. 2. as soon as people realize theres only a minute left, they run, and its hard to not get run over/make it to class yourself.

Oh, yeah, you will see a lot of kids taking a smoke break.

You should focus on the sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Physics.
You should also take Calculus and Statistics, a co-op placement with a local vet may well be helpful. Since it's possible that some of your future "human" clients may have difficulty in communicating in English, taking one or more foreign language courses could be a good idea. I would also suggest taking Philosophy if it's available, since there are ethical issues in the medical treatment of animals, just as there are in the medical treatment of humans.

Smile! I was the same way too...I loved the punk scene but wasn't some angsty world hating teen. I found that always having a smile ready showed people that i wasn't hostile in any way. Be enthusiastic when meeting people, show that you are glad to meet them etc. etc. Its good to hear about people like you, rock on!!

Definitely a BACKPACK. People don't care wear your clothes and accessories come from, plus you really would want to carry your books like that all day? Backpacks are bigger and can hold more things. Totes are more for summer and the beach and they wouldn't be able to hold books, supplies, and other things.
Reply:use a large tote if you're going for whats "in" right now, but a backpack is def. ,more easy to carry. Usually totes have a small pouch insde where you can put your wallet and essentials in it and then transfer it to a purse when you're not at school.

me and my family just migrated from the philippines..i dont really know what to expect when i go to school..am kinda nervous and at the same time excited..i need advices on what to wear..cuz back in manila we use uniforms :)
and how do u use the locker..cuz my mom didnt let me use a locker back in the phil..

1. High school is similar around the world. Wear what seems natural to wear for you (be yourself!). I would suggest nothing showing your stomach, no spaghetti straps, nothing too sexual.
2. locks are pretty easy once you get used to them. If this is your combination: 12-23-4
First you turn the lock around several times to the right to "clear" it. Then, going in the right/clockwise direction, turn it to the notch "12." After that, turn in left/counterclockwise direction to "23," but keep going one extra turn until you come to "23" again (you go over the second number twice). Then turn right/clockwise until you come to "4" (don't go over it twice, just hit it once). Pull the lever or pull on the lock and it should open.
So again, simply: clear, go right to 1st number, go left to 2nd number twice over, go to right to 3rd number (once), open
A great way to make friends is to join clubs or sport teams. They probably have something you are interested--maybe art, music, sports, literature, cheerleading, whatever. That's the best way to make friends in high school.

is high skool all it's cracked up to be. my fellow freshmen friends say it's just four long years of hearache, stressful college prep, and cliques. What is your opinion?

it can be some of the best times and the worst times. try not to let the actual academic part run your life because you'll regret it if you dont go to like football and basketball games and dances, because you're too worried about homework and stuff. but dont slack off either. i slacked off majorly my freshman and sophomore years, and part of the reason i didnt get into the college that i wanted to go to was because of that. just try to enjoy it as much as possible because what people say is true, its over before you know it and you dont want to have any regrets!
oh ... and dont be too worried about what other people think of you! the second you graduate everyone could care less who was friends with who, and who wore what..

People are prick and mean. Find a group that you like and fit into focus your energy on your academics take lots of college and advance placement classes and I stress calculus get that out of the way and your hard science. Get involved with the math clubs and the debate team. Don't be a dumb cheer leader. If you want to go to a good college they want to see the nerdy activity not the stereotypical social cliques.

High school determines a lot of things. Through mylife experinces I realized that i hung out with the wrong people good thing I got a away I ended up with a gothic person whom I married. High school will have "heartache" but it's petty things. You'llhave drama because everyone's a teenageand they don't think like older people uh.. some college people still think like high school kids. Well have fun 4years are going t be long hard and make sure you hang out with the right people. Be with the smart kids because you might end up smart and succeed in life.

At my school, you need to get teacher initials for recommendation to any AP class, when I asked my english teacher which AP class I should take, she said american lit(regular english). English has always been my best subject and I really want to take AP. Should I take the english AP exam and if I pass do the class anyways ?
And what should I say if I pass the AP test and the counselor tries to say that I didnt get a teacher recommendation ?

The mulitiple choice however, is a little more difficult, at least it was for me. you just read passages and asnwer questions, and the questions deal with literary terms mostly. for example they might ask you where in the story taht you read do u see a hyperbole or personification, but they give u much HARDER terms that you have to go over and memorize to understand what they mean. GOod luck with whatever you choose!

dont worry about it if ur goin to be a freshman than take classes that some upperclassmen take as well to make new friends and have a better year and high school is not much harder than middle school well atleast freshman year isnt ill have to wait and c for my sophemore year but yea so far my freshman year has been my best year yet i know a lot of people that are seniors, juniors, sophemores and of course freshman im just sad that some of my sernior friends are graduating o well and dont worry ull do fine and just wear the clothes that u like

Ok, today, I was betryaed by one of my best friends since 6th grade (im in 10th now) because basicaly they got pissed that I didnt come to school because there was a shooting threat, so they text messaged me a message basicaly calling me a coward, so I got upset and text messaged them back, then they text messaged back, then I texted my friend saying "dont even think about talking to me tommorow, asshole". How do I get over this and make new friends ?

I also went to a school in Winnipeg Canada for when I lived there for a few years. Going to a new school like this was always nerve racking, but when I got there I realized it was not so bad. Just remember to be friendly to people and you will make friends. Once you make friends, it will seem like a breeze. Also, don't freak yourself out too much. Your mind always makes things seem worse than they are going to end up to be. Don't worry, you will be fine. Trust me.

the things u should bring on the first day are:
-some papers in a folder
-a few pens and pencils,
-your scedule
-and maybe a nice totebag to put it all in :)
on the first day of school your teachers will tell you what is CRUCIAL for that class (ie. graphing calculator for math.. my english teacher told us on the first day last year that she would NEVER nolerate pencils.. lol)
basically, i ended up with a couple of notebooks, a two inch binder and a composition notebook at the end of the year :)
P.S- bring glue/tape and scissors to school. omg, people ALWAYS need them, but no oneeee ever has them ;)

Any advice you have about anything. Im putting it in this section because I love your opinions! Just to tell you im coming from a private school...to my first time ever in public school.

oh well you're in for something lol. first off, dont trust people easily. there are going to be some pretty nasty fights. if you are yourself, thats wat makes u cool and people like you...unless ur are naturaly mean and nasty but i doubt that. PLEASE dont make the mistake that i did. i went for TRACK and it brought my grades down cause i couldnt balance out my homework and sports. unless u can balance a schedule which i cant, dont do sports unless you're gonna do that for a living lol. HIGH SCHOOL isnt scary. trust me. actually its the one of the best things that happened to me in a way. well if u have any questions, you can email me =) ......DONT DO DRUGS!!! lol

Lots have said not too overdress on the first day and not be nervous because it's not as scary as it seems.
I'd also say make sure you have everything in your locker. Be yourself. If you're shy try not to be so you can make lots of friends. That always helps at a new school!

I guess you could say it's easier to "be your own person" since you have a lot of "groups" to choose from, and since you can wear whatever you want (unless there's a strict dress code being enforced)! It's a change, but you'll get used to it.

oh well you're in for something lol. first off, dont trust people easily. there are going to be some pretty nasty fights. if you are yourself, thats wat makes u cool and people like you...unless ur are naturaly mean and nasty but i doubt that. PLEASE dont make the mistake that i did. i went for TRACK and it brought my grades down cause i couldnt balance out my homework and sports. unless u can balance a schedule which i cant, dont do sports unless you're gonna do that for a living lol. HIGH SCHOOL isnt scary. trust me. actually its the one of the best things that happened to me in a way. well if u have any questions, you can email me =) ......DONT DO DRUGS!!! lol

My son is a freshman this year, started school today. I am very concerned about him suceeding. He barely passed summer school and has attention deficit. Any suggestions? He can't get organized, motivated, and seems overwhelmed. His counslers all just keep recommending to continue passing him along, but I worry this is setting him up for failure. I guess its do or die?

I have seen again and again how organization can really put these kids at a bigger disadvantage. I would work at home on making sure your son has a system he knows and can use for organization. A folder for every subject, a place where papers go that need to go home and a place that the papers go that need to be turned in. Ask if the teachers would be willing to check or sign off that he has written down his assignments correctly at the end of each period. Now a days many teachers are putting assignments on-line on a website so parents and students can access information after school hours. The organizational issues alone can cause a child to become overwhelmed and give up. Focus on that first, but do know that you can request and evaluation from the school district (put it in writing) at any time to see if your son qualifies for any additional services (special education).
Reply:You need to give him a chance, before being too concerned. It's hard to be organized and motivated especially in highschool because youre taking classes you HAVE to college. College is alot more of what YOU want for what you want to do when youre done with it. My best suggestion (wish this was asked before the semester started) a smaller college (hopefully you chose that) and dont overload on classes the first year. Let him get used to it. If he is living in a dorm, being over bearing may actually have an opposite effect, but every now and then make sure he has everything he needs, see how he is doing. If he is livng at home it will be a lot easier to see. College may actually help because there are a few projects (but all are announced normally way ahead of time) that he will know about so you can see about any of those, and he should be old enough to know when he will need help with different types of projects, but its also not alot of sit down homework, its studying, reading over your notes, ect. A tape recorder in class may help too if he's bad at taking notes (just email your prof ahead of time because depending on the school their lectures are actually used in their thesis's and you cant use the material or record it) and it can hide in the front of your book bag. That way he can listen to the lecture over again if he doesnt take good notes or feel like reading, or he can just double check his notes after class.. Email me if you want any other suggestions.. I've been there so I know things that can help

I'm afraid I won't make a lot of friends because I'm very shy..
I have a lot of friends now, but I've known them all since pretty much elementary school. It's just hard for me to make new friends because I'm always worrying about embarrassing myself..

You'll make friends in time. There will be a lot of new people with new personalities, some shy and others not. You aren't the only one that's nervous either. Just try to be confident; there's nothing wrong with being shy if you're still confident in yourself. Also if you have self confidence, your shyness will eventually go away. It will most likely go away as you get older anyway!
I used to be very shy myself but one day I met my best friend, a very outgoing person. She talked to me over an over, and I eventually opened up. Now, I'm not too shy anymore and I know I have her to thank for that. So maybe you'll find someone that brings out the talkative and charismatic side of you. :]

Its hard not to make new friends just becuase you have different grade levels in your classes and you see older people a lot. I wouldnt be nervous because everyone is matured up and no one is going to make fun of you or say mean things. Just join clubs or sports that a lot of people do its an easy way to make friends.

now comes a list of advices:
1) the first day everyone wont be knowing anyone, all of you people will be starngers to each other, so if u find someone sitting alone, go n talk with him/her like " hey , how r u ?? " n it goes on , u hav alot of things to talk about , but u should talk about somethign in common which is basically talking about courses and the university so that u two dun get bored.
2) if someone from ur school is joining the same university , y dun u both go n start knwoing more people together.
3) you should be very polite with people and do nto show that u r shy ,, if they didnt like u , fine , not everyone will like u , leave them n go knw other ppl.
4) go n visit theuniversity one day before so that u dun get completely lost in ur frts day.

Reply:Dont worry at all, people make the first day of high school seem like such a big deal. Its hard not to make new friends just becuase you have different grade levels in your classes and you see older people a lot. I wouldnt be nervous because everyone is matured up and no one is going to make fun of you or say mean things. Just join clubs or sports that a lot of people do its an easy way to make friends.

Reply:ya, when i was going to be a freshman i was really nervous too. i'm going to be a softmore. my school is pretty small, but what helped me was that my friend was going there too. also we had this before school bbq and i met 2 friends there. i was pretty shy too but if you join school clubs and other extracurricular activities, you'll find people with your interests. hope that helps

now comes a list of advices:
1) the first day everyone wont be knowing anyone, all of you people will be starngers to each other, so if u find someone sitting alone, go n talk with him/her like " hey , how r u ?? " n it goes on , u hav alot of things to talk about , but u should talk about somethign in common which is basically talking about courses and the university so that u two dun get bored.
2) if someone from ur school is joining the same university , y dun u both go n start knwoing more people together.
3) you should be very polite with people and do nto show that u r shy ,, if they didnt like u , fine , not everyone will like u , leave them n go knw other ppl.
4) go n visit theuniversity one day before so that u dun get completely lost in ur frts day.

Ok, Im 16 and I'm in summer school, and during summer school there is no bus, and since I cant get my license until october, I use to get rides from a friend. Until recently, the friend would give me and a couple of people rides, but recently and today, he tried to make up a lie about why he cant give rides, so I just walked away. Is this friend fake ? Even if he doesnt want to give rides shouldnt he just tell us and not make up a fake excuse ?

The news media was ALL around my school and they are going to be there tommorow too, the school faculty is going to have police everywhere, and when I told my parent that I didnt want to go, she said I have to. okay i was wondering if anyone went to are going to a hight school that is all about money? i was wondering if there are any other hight schools like mine. that every is about money, like football is important, but its what kind of handbag what car you drive. becouse alot of my class mates are drving BMW, Mercedes Biez, Lexus, Land Rover. and where is you school at??

i cant decide between two schools. one is a magnet and the other is an easy school. i want to go to the easy school so i can get A's easily but there are alot of bad people there and i wouldnt fit in at all. the magnet i would have to work alot harder but most of my friends are going to there. the big thing about friends is thta my BEST friend is going to the easy school no matter what ... if i decide to go to the magnet how do i tell her. this decsition could be a big choise in my life. what should i do? thank you for spending time and helping:)

I'am in desperate need of help I'am 17 years old living in Canada and very behind in school. Is there anyway possible way I can obtain my credits faster? If I attend regular school it will take my so long to get my diploma and I don't want that. Are there any alternatives? for eg. home school, schools where I can go part time because I have to work. Due to personal issuses in my home it has really messed me up academically and I really don't wanna be in classes with little immature gr. 11 kids. If anyone has any alternatives to help me gain my diploma within Ontario Canada it would be greatly appreciated thanks! I'am young and don't even wanna think of droping out as an option.

uhm i'm currently in 8th grade and i'm gonna be in 9th grade very very soon. i just have a question bout it...how different is it ? i know theres gonna be way more people than the school i'm currently in. but like....going class to class meeting a whole lotta people. its gonna be soo new to me lol. cause i go to a small co-ed private school [pre-k thru 8th] and its a one hallway school...our school is soo bootlegged ...in a sense. but in other words..its not like any other.
but back to the topic. are the boys more mature ? and i'm sure theres gonna be more peer pressure.
