High School?

I want to get out of high school this year I am in 11 grade my school says that this is not a good idea. but I get the feeling that they are saying that b/c if I do it's less money (they are greedy) I am in Utah. I am thinking of going to a private school. What do you think? any ideas?

High School?
You need to make sure you get enough credits for a good college.

The time in school may suck now, but it will be important later down the road.

And yeah "high school drop out" doesn't look good on a resume. %26gt;_%26gt;

12th grade is the funnest year anyway. =P
Reply:Just stick it out your last year. Everyone pays for school with tax $ money whether they go or not. It's stupid I know, but it isn't going to change any time soon. If your school sucks ridiculously, you have no friends, or there's nothing exciting to do, then go to a private school. If it's just about $ though I suggest you stay. Private school is a lot more expensive
Reply:unless u plan on being a struggling job finder drop out.
Reply:Don't get out, go for 12th, it looks better on a resume.
Reply:bad idea, you want to spend your 12th grade with your friends that you know from 9-11. if you go to another school during senior year you will have a hard time making friends since most people are already integrated into their little social groups.

Academically, if your grades are good at your current school you should be fine for college since 11th grade is the most important.
Reply:Do what is best for you. But my Seniors thoroughly enjoy their Senior year- since they have most of their credits they spend 1/2 the day at school and then 1/2 at work or the vocational school. They also enjoy participating in Senior trip and Senior Prom and all the graduation exercise activities hosted for them. We acknowledge our Seniors by allowing them to walk in to all events and listen to the underclassmen cheer, etc. It is a big deal to be a Senior there! Sooo much fun and something to look forward to! Well just some stuff for you to consider. On the other hand, even if you take no classes at the school you can still participate in stuff if you have not technically graduated. Florida has a pact that students can attend the local community colleges for free if they are high school students (meeting certain criteria- GPA and ACT scores) and many students get a year's worth of credits out of the way this way and for free. They have to provide their own transportation but that is about it. Just depends on what you want to do. I suggest that my Seniors look at their options heavily before graduating though because high school only happens once and it should be a memorable experience! :)
Reply:if you are absolutely miserable at your school and want to finish up high school, there are online high school classes you can take. you can finish classes at your own pace and take extra classes so that you can get your diploma faster. i dont know what its like in utah, but one of my friends here in florida started doing online high school classes after she had a mental breakdown. she came back the next year, but decided that she should just take classes online, since she could graduate on time instead of returning and repeating the beginning of the year over again. i hope this solution is good for you. it shouldn't be as expensive as a private school and much easier to get in to.
Reply:private schools are good but hard to get into i think. do what you think is best. think about where you wanna be in life and what kind of people you want to be around.

High school???

im only in grade 7 but im really nervous about high school? Most of my friends arent going to the same school as me and i dont want to be stupid and a lonner, thou im pretty populair at the school i go to now.

High school???
everyones meets new people at high school. seriously, there are so much people there and theres bound to be some people who u will get on relli well with. just be urself, then u wont be lonely. join some clubs and u will get to meet some people with the same interests. dress in ur own style, that way people will like u for who u r. dont crouch down in the corner, be in the middle, be chatty and socialise with everyone. then they will all get the impression that ur a relli nice friendly girl and they will all be dying to be friends with u. good luck !!! :)
Reply:everyone meets new friends in high school. you will find that who you are friends with will change many times throughout the course of your life. people come and go, some stay true, some don't. you won't be a loner i promise you'll meet new people

who here is goes to flushing high school?!

i just want to ask does that school have lockers?!

lol i noe its a random question but i love lockers but never had them in my school :( so i am just wondering...

High School?
FLushing NY- Yeah
Reply:Better than what I had -we had tiny lockers and the school was so overcrowded, we were three to a locker. In a mountain area. Stuff coats in there for three, that's all there is room for.

Was also like a cattle drive in the halls.

Was at my old school for a christmas fair -they widened the halls and the place is huge now.
Reply:How the hell do you have high schools without lockers?

What's next?No teachers? No students?
Reply:Flushing, Michigan?

I live in Lansing. Pretty much ALL high schools have lockers.
Reply:High schools with no lockers? Did you go to school in Africa?
Reply:u nvr had lockers in ur skool? do u go to a poor skool? WOW! where do u keep ur books?

but anyways... ya they do have lockers
Reply:wow...

High School?

I am in 8th grader and i am very confused. I don't know where to go to high school. I got a leadership scholarship to a very nice private school with a great football program (2nd in the nation). But the other school is where my whole family went and all my friends plan on attending. It is like choosing on my friends or my future. Can i get some advice.

High School?
Basically you have to decide what is more important. Sure you can go to a really nice school, play football for 4 years and maybe get a scholarship into a nice college. If you decide to go to the school with all your friends, you'll probably feel a little more comfortable being there and you could even still play football there. it's up to you. I just thought I would point out a few things. i hope this helps narrow it down!
Reply:Do not choose on the basis of your friends or where you family went to school. Choose on the basis of what is good for you.

High School ??

Well , I'm 14 and going into High School but , I've been homeschooled since the 3rd grade . I'm not sure if I should head into public school now or wait a year because I know it will be hard on me not going to public middle school . I am asking for advice on what I should do because I am at a loss .

High School ??
Well, I am not going to offer commentary on your choice, ok.

Do you not know anyone in your area that attends the school? If you do, talk to them and get to know them a little better.

My opinion is waiting another year isn't going to make it easier or increase the amount of people you know at the highschool.

If you seriously want to go to public school, and your parents are prepared to do this, then go ahead and go now. This will give you an opportunity to get to know some people, plus you can begin working on your diploma program and not have to worry about transfer credits or anything.

And remember, most highschools take in students from several area middle schools, so no one is going to know everyone.

Just be friendly, open and discerning.

Had to add this. I'm sensing your difficulty is not because you are not socialized, it is because you do not know anyone at the school. I wanted to point out there is a difference. big changes like that are nerve wracking for anyone in any situation. Lots of kids entering that school are going through the same thing you are right now and they have not been homeschooled. Remember that.
Reply:PRobably better to wait and go into Highschool as a Freshman.

You would be going into a Senior class in which everyone is already in a Clique and knows each other. You will be a senior who is treated like a scrub.

Wait a year and get Scrub treatment along will all the other Middle Schoolers

If you are in a city, half those middle schoolers will get sent to different high schools so the cliques will end there.

Plus the High School kids already have their cliques established.

PLUS it will give you another year to get up to snuff

ARE your READY for GEOMETRY 1

Biology 1

Foreign Lanugage

Advanced World History

English Grammar and Comp

Are you familiar with styles like APA. A lot of schools are teaching APA becuse Colleges like it.

So you can use the extra year to get ready and then go in a FODDER equal with the rest of the Middle Schoolers

If you're going to be at a disadvantage, be at an equal one!
Reply:I can't resist asking, why go to high school at all?

Are you sure you want to trade the opportunity to study at your own pace and in your own way for a rigid, standardized classroom in which much of your time will be wasted with busywork and classroom management?

Are you sure you want to give up the freedom to spend time with the people you choose, when you choose to, and be stuck in a relentlessly judgmental high-school social scene in which you have to encounter the same jerks and bullies *every day* and be ranked in a shallow-minded hierarchy of popularity? (People will no doubt tell you that the high school social scene is "preparation for the real world." Well, trust me, the "real world" of adult life is NOTHING like high school--and thank goodness for that!)

Do you think you need to go to high school because you want to go to college, or to a good college? A lot of people still think that homeschooling as a high schooler will be a disadvantage in this area... But the colleges themselves have learned better. Homeschoolers have no trouble with college admissions, and some top schools actively seek them.
Reply:go for it
Reply:u should go 2 public school. anyway theres gonna b a bunch of people from outta state that wont no anyone either. and if u start no itll be easier cuz ull b a frshman and have started at that school and not b new the second year i bet itll b easier starting no then next year.
Reply:I think you will really like it, you will meet alot of people from different backgrounds. You are also lucky because you get a new start and you arent going to school with already a bad reputation, you havent made enemies or friends so you neutral which is just right. My advice is on your first day, say hi to everyone (even people you would never talk to) I know you'll be nervous but dont hide in a shell, try to meet and talk to new people. If you have a hobby like sports, math, music, e.t.c join a club, band, choir, volleyball, cheerleading, soccer, drama club, chess club, math club, student council, e.t.c even if you havent tried those stuff and you have a bit of interest give it a try you might just like Keep your composure, if your first day is a complete nightmare dont go beserk just try to go with the flow and make friends instead of enemies.

I think this is your perfect time to go public school because you are just a freshman
Reply:You should go ahead and go to public school now. The longer you put it off, the harder it will be for you to adjust. You need to start getting used to being around other people your age, socializing, learning to make friends, etc. Otherwise it will be a problem for you later on.
Reply:I would strongly suggest that you go to public high school or (charter, private etc.) My knowledge of homeschooling (my daughter has been doing homeschooling with my grandson) I am a graduate from University of Illinois, in education.

According to recent studies, homeschooling is not recommended past the 8th grade, homeschooling past the 8th grade will hamper your ability to socialize (learn communication skills, there are many activities and interaction with other students of diverse backgrounds at the high school lever) that will help you later when you go to university or college (strongly recommend) because, you will not be able to survive in this society without a degree. You have to be able to shift and be flexible in a fast changing world.

Talking about shifting, check this site, it will give you some idea of what is happening in the world.
Reply:I suggest going to public school now. It's the perfect oppurtinity. The longer you wait, the harder it will be. The first year of high school is when you start meeting new friends (people who went to different middle schools).

Not everyone knows everyone in high school, especially the first year. If you decide to wait a year it'll probably be harder to make friends and to transition to the public school way of things.
Reply:This is really a personal decision. I wouldn't trade homeschooling for public school.
Reply:You asked in the homeschool section, so understand that the responses encouraging public school are probably going to get thumbs down votes. That doesn't mean that public school is the wrong choice for you. It means you are probably asking the wrong people.

So far, your parents have provided your education. What do they say? Those are the people to ask, because they know you far better and care about what happens to you FAR MORE than any strangers who may write you in Yahoo Answers. Have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents.

High school?

Do you get alot of home work in your first year of high school? i'm going to be a freshman this fall, i dont get alot know i just usually get a page of math or something. What should i expect.

also, what are some good school supplies i should get alot of or that i will use alot??

thanks!

any tips on how to get good grades ??? i usually start the school year of good with everything organized then it all falls apart. how can i prevent that?

High school?
A lot of your question depends on the high school you attend and the teachers you take. Usually, the freshmen level classes have the least amount of homework, though, to make the transition from middle school to high school easier.

The school supplies question depends on your school too. If your school allows you to use laptops, then you probably need printer ink. If your school is public, and more traditional, then you will need notebooks. Lots of notebooks. If you are really going to try to stay organized - which is a difficult task - then you will also want 3-ring binders and folders, so you can keep the work and notes for each of your classes seperate.

Now my question is, are you really willing to work to get organized? It can be hard and time consuming, at first, but after a while it will become second nature.

If you want to get organized, you should set up a schedule. It will help you with both your organization and your time management. (Bonus: better time management means more time with your friends) Set up a weekly schedule that has detailed information on it, listing what needs to be done throughout each day. For example:

Monday

3:00-3:30 = homework

3:30-4:00 = chores

4:45 = go meet friends at the park

You would do that for each day, so you can keep on top of everything, and still have fun. Also, you should set up a semester long schedule that keeps you aware of all the projects due in each of your classes, so nothing sneaks up on you. You could even keep this kind of schedule on a calandar, that way you can put other important dates on it, like the Homecoming dance or track meets or any other things you are interested in.

You could also make a To-Do list, organized by importance. Listing things that you Must do, then things you Should do, followed by things that you Want to do. For example:

Must Do

finish biology project

watch younger sister/brother

Should Do

water the plants

put the cans in the recycling bin

Want to Do

watch a movie with boyfriend

test out that new lasagna recipe

Maybe you will have time for all of it, but if you don't, then you can easily see what should be done first.

You should also set goals for yourself, that way, even if you feel like you have gotten nothing done (there will be days like that), you can look at your goals and see what you have accomplished. The goals should be small, such as, a goal for spending half an hour reading the Literature text assigned. It may sound too easy, but feel free to go beyond your goals if you can.

The easiest thing you can do to get organized and get good grades is to set up a study area and a study time. Your area should be free of distractions (not in front of the TV or next to a loud stereo) and it should be comfortable. You should have plenty of room to spread out your books and paper and anything else you need. You should have good lighting and a comfortable chair. The set study time will help you get in the routine of studying too.

Sorry if I am so long-winded. I hope this helps you out some. If nothing else, remember, high school is not as tough as you imagine. :) Good luck with your academic endeavors.
Reply:Hey relax and be cool. I assure you high school is not that hard. When i was in junior high every body used to say that high school is hard. But when i went it was not that hard. Now i am a high school senior. So don't worry just do work and everything will be cool.

Good luck in high school
Reply:Each high school, and each teacher, are different. However, be prepared for half to an hour of homework each night per class. If you find that they give less, that's fine. Better to be prepared for more than less.

Some good school supplies: A durable backpack which doesn't strain your back, a spiral notebook with perforated pages and a 3-ring binder for each class, lots of pencils and blue and black pens, a ruler, compass, protractor, highlighter, eraser, and water bottle with a lid.

It's a good idea to hang on to the syllabus the teachers will give you and stick them in the front page of your 3-ring notebooks for each class. Date a sheet of paper right behind your syllabus and keep track of what assignments are due each date.

As far as staying organized, a lot of it has to do with keeping current on your classwork. As soon as you fall behind, you'll want to give up. Stay on top of your assignments and be willing, if you do fall behind, to stay after school until you get caught up. Remember that these teachers look good when you do well, so most of them are willing to let you come in over lunch or before or after school to do extra credit or make up assignments.

Also, for motivation, put a countdown to the next break (Christmas, Easter, or Summer breaks) on your calendar or website. This way, you can pump yourself up every time you start getting unmotivated.
Reply:when i was a freshman i remember just paper and like markers..colored pencils.

yeah be really organized or you will be lost

%26amp;

teachers make like it gonna be a HUGE difference from middle school

but its not

teachers dont give you a butt load like they say. make sure you just do your work %26amp; turn it in ON TIME.
Reply:Stay away form boys first and formost and don't worry about school get along with everyone and stay out of other people's business and drama. Things will fall into palce if you follow these simple rules
Reply:That really depends on the high school you go to.

High School?

Is having a social life important in high school? Because like a month or 2 ago, I stopped going out on Friday/Weekends because I don't call out my friends or they don't call me out. I feel like when high school is over, all those stuff wouldn't matter? Is that true? I mean, I do go out like once in a while but not as much as before.

High School?
No, just do whatever makes u happy! when u feel like being with friends, that's great. And when u feel like staying at home, then it's up to you. Live your life the way you want, not the way other people want you to!
Reply:I am in highschool and i dont go out every night, nor do i go out every friday night or on weekends either. I like to go out, but its not a necessity. I do what i can, but i also keep myself busy so that i am not always bored. To a degree, maintaining a relationship outside of school is important, but it's not uber important. But if you dont socialize at all anymore, then that may be a problem
Reply:I never left and went out when i could have. Now, i look back and Im like, crap, i really should have. enjoy it, make friends, make memories have fun %26gt;D
Reply:I've felt exactly like that before, and I think you just have to try and make some better plans. A social life is only important if you are having fun going out. If you like staying home doing stuff thats fine to. I'd say just try calling more people to find out what they're up to more often. Usually Fridays or free days I find myself doing nothing it's because I didn't make the effort to make any plans. When I do end up calling someone I almost always end up with something fun to do. Hope this helped :)
Reply:having a social life builds social skills, social skills are very important in all aspects of life
Reply:social life was the least of my worries when I was in high school. I recently just graduated. U can be popular without going to parties...

High school?

Does any body ever think about their high school years? I always see these movie that depict high school as fun but I had the opposite experience. I remember most of my classmates for a the mean things they did to me. I don't think about it all the time but twenty years later I still can remember it like it was yesterday. I get frustrated with my short comings and wish I could re write the past. It doesn't make sense dwelling on the past, I don't know why I can't move on.

High school?
It was a double edged blade for me. I became friends with the people labled as 'freaks' and when i'd walk down the hall people would openly talk about me to get a rise out of me, tease me, i even got spit on, on a few memorable occasions.

But my friends were there with me through most of it and helped me laugh it off. Basically, we ignored them and did our own thing. Eventually when they realized we didn't give a damn what they thought about us, they laid off.

I think most people have some bad experiences in HS. It can't be helped. People are just insecure and put oters down to make themselves feel better.

But i gotta say, the highlight of my past year was running into one of the guys who used to make my life hell, and having him ask me out. I wasn't mean, but i did feel redeemed.

I guess i can say that at the most, you could learn from your past experiences. Chances are tey made you a better, more understanding person.
Reply:Maybe you cant move on because you think that what happened to you was unfair?

You have to remember, what goes around comes around, and instead of regretting things you did, remember, what you are doing NOW will be your past in a few years, so give yourself something good to look back on.
Reply:If you think about the movies, isn't there always someone in the movie who gets picked on or maybe has a bad high school experience? You have to remember that movies contort things. I watch movies and am always saying "girls are not like that in high school" or "cheerleading isn't like that." Movies go with what people say and think; not what it really is.

Also, is there something in high school that you regret? Do you wish you had kept in touch with some people? Could that be the reason why you feel so negatively about it? High school isn't perfect for everyone.
Reply:why did you thing that people do things with mean? I think that's just because you think so much... many people are nice, and it's seem that you just remember the bad person !
Reply:well i am in high school right now and its all about who your true friends are. if your friends were mean, first of all they weren't your friend and second of all why were you with them? no friend should ever make you feel bad. all my friend make me feel good and are there for me always. i know who to stay away from. You don't need those who don't need you. so don't waist your time thinking about them because by the looks of it they never waisted any GOOD time on you. You control your life not the other way around.

im really scared of certain girls going to my high school, and im starting in september. how should i face high school and these girls?

in 1 year, 2009 im going to high school we have a great team but we have been in a couple of turnaments but we keep losing in the championship game. everyone one on our team has a chance to play in div 1 college team how can we get a high school scout to see us???

High school?
You are too young to be worried about college scouts yet.
Reply:answer ur own question
Reply:well i have the potential to play in a div 1 collage so i have to say .keep wining games....try to score at least 15-25 points a game or more and get double doubles...in my school i average a double double everygame and and i put upp 15+ plus points so im sure scouts already seen me play and probably gona talk to me in my jr year...yea but put up alot of points if you want look at my question about basketball its a lil similar
Reply:make sure that you put yourself out there with the coaches. try emailing them and let them know that you are interested in playing in college. if you have a specific school that you want to go to...try to go to one of their camps if they host one.

im from oz.

and im in high school next year [O_O]

can i just have some dos and donts about high school . like you know dont mess with this or that ,.like that kind

and tips with boys [no, not getting them to like you. but to handle and befriend them]

High school?
Dont flirt with guys who have reputations of sex and stay away from drugs and drinking completely. Do make sure you make a goood impression on your teachers pay attention in class and be nice to everyone. Ask for help when you need it. For guys to befriend them find the ones that treat girls nicely, make friends with girls first and then you can make friends with the guys they think are acceptable. You can do it Good Luck
Reply:Don't change. At all. My best friend changed when she got into high school, and you don't think you are doing it, but sometimes you just need a reality check. Anywho, you need to hang out with the right crowd, I am not saying you should be popular, I mean, just hang out with people who are actaully your friends, not someone using you, doing drugs, or a bad infulence. Teahcers hate it when you swear, but you usually don't get in trouble for it. Also you should do your homework everynight, because(for me) you do homework m-t, then on Friday there is a quiz on it then the next week there is usually a test. Also it counts for 30 percent of your grade, so if you don't do it and you score a 100 on projects, tests, and quizes the hightest grade you can get is a 70 percent. C-.
Reply:high school isnt as bad as they make it seem like on shows or movies, it's pretty normal actually, a lot more people though........but yea it's really not so bad

High school?

my sister is attending the 8th grade this year she 'll go to high school. I've studied in England . I want to know. how many subjects you must study in high school?

High school?
Well, In my high school, we have four core classes, and two electives. My four cores are, of course, Math, science, history, and English. My two electives are Business Tech and Band. I am a Freshman, and I have Alegebra I. It's not so hard when you really listen and focus. You also HAVE to do your homework, or you will surely fail, as it contributes so well to your grade. Science, I have Biology. The first semester was mostly on Botany (plants), cells, and reproduction. Not so hard. Just take notes and study your vocabulary. History is really the same as ever, if not just a bit more specific. English is a lot harder for me, though, because you stop focusing so much on classifying sentences, and nouns and verbs and the like. It's mostly literature. Of course, that's all the core classes. Band and Business Tech really depend on the teacher, because they don't have a set standard that they have to respond to, they just teach whatever they feel like.
Reply:i study 8 subjects
Reply:i have heaps. 4 electives and alot of core subjects :)
Reply:We had 6 classes freshman year and 7 classes the other 3 years
Reply:4-6 subjects
Reply:around 4-6 subjects per day in a regular high school.

High school?

I am so stressed about college and work and high school. I am only in 8th grade but I went to a high school orientation today and I got so worried. They were talking to us about knowing what career we wanted to do so we could pick what classes to take but I have no idea what I want to do. Is there any way I can get my self organized and stop worrying?

Oh and by the way I know that this isn't really a question.

High school?
remeber when u were in six grade and u dud orientation ofr jr high, and it looked so hard and stressful, between waht you saw and what syblings and older friends told you. and then after 2 weeks it really wasnt tht bad. well its the same thing when you go from jr to high school. @ first its scary then you get there and its only freshmen for the 1st day you get really comfortable and its a very easy transition, it even was for me and i havr serious social anxiety problems, and i never did good in class in jr high, but i passed all my high school clases,

except health cause my teacher was a *****. some 300 pound ugly lady was telling us "your not healthy. eat better" and she was bigger than the doorway with her only experience being 20 years in a pet store no college. i felt like i was in the presance of Dr. Phil
Reply:Most people find out what they want to do when they're in the middle of college or even after. Talk to a counselor about the classes. Maybe there are some classes to take without knowing what career you want to go into. But a school counselor or whoever would be a good idea.
Reply:when i grad. hs a few years ago i thought the same thing. i was working at sub way, not making any money and then a customer offered me a job as a teachers assistant. Now i am in college and love what i do. Now i am a full time teacher making good money. Sometimes these things just fall into your lap. Dont worry about it. you have your whole life.
Reply:Don't be worried, take required classes, and then take electives that you think you like or would possibly lead to a career, and relax man, take in life! You only live once.
Reply:well, when your a freshman you really only get to pick one class.. your elective. all the others are required.

these are required ( depending on your level, you will be put into a more specific course )

math..

english

science

PE

Health ( not so sure at your school)

then you get to pick one.

normally, people pick languages so that they can get into college. so really you only need to choose between whatever languages your school offers ( i bet its not more than 4 ) problem solved?
Reply:im a freshmen and almost sophmore woo hoo

dont worry so much

just make good grades by having a good gpa and get involved

worry about getting into college when youre a junior!

try to take a foreign language as a freshmen and continue taking that language til your a senior

good luck!
Reply:I'm a sophomore in college and I still don't know what I want to do!!!

Take an interest, and work with it. Pick classes that interest you. You really don't need to pick classes for the future. It's there so that if you do already know what you want to do, you can get a feel and make up your mind.

Good luck!!!
Reply:college kids change their majors all the time, and almost half go in undecided. dont stress out!!
Reply:Don't stress about it, enjoy high school. They are supose to get you to start thinking about your future. The reality is that most people don't know what they want to do.

Many college students end up changing their majors and career decisions. Get involved in a club, a sport, or some activity and have fun!

Make sure you take your Maths, Sciences and English and History, those are your basics. Or talk to a school counselor.
Reply:talk to your conculer

make a 4 year plan

most ppl who are in univerity and coleges don't even have a major.(just check the university that youll like and get a idea of wat claases are required to get in)once you do that ur all good

but make sure u have all your core classes down

take something or at least one thing like journalism or some like that to make your resume look good( the paper that says wat you taken and stuff you be in)

the main things is get super good grades, join sports, clubs, have fun,and challange ur self in at leat taking a adv claases once ur a jounior or senoir best of luks and don't stresse just finish high school.
Reply:Don't worry about it. High school is not going to be as difficult as it looks. You have 4 years to decide what you want to do for your future. There are people that go into college not knowing exactly what they want. You'll pick the classes when the time comes. You haven't even taken high school courses yet, so of course you don't know right now.
Reply:Sure it's a question.

Well, my mom is breathing down my neck to chose a career; I'm thinking medicine, and she says that isn't spesific enough. Don't worry about a certain career, just pick a field that you think you'll like to work in; medacine, writing, stuff like that. Most people don't find the JOB they want until they've gone to college for a year or two.

Don't worry about where life's going to take you. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Where ever you end up, that's where you're supposed to be.
Reply:when i was in school i had such anxiety about what the future held. you don't need to know what you want to do. not in 8th grade. some classes that kids now a days should take above and beyond the usual- keyboarding and computers. take class that are fun and challenging to prepare you for the outside world.
Reply:Yeah there is a way to stop worrying. Just do it! There are people who go to four year colleges and still aren't sure of what they want to do. Or what about the person who works a job for 15 years and wants to change, but isn't sure of what to do. There are always times when you aren't sure in life, but it's your life. Don't pressure yourself and don't let other people pressure you either. You are at a point in your life where you can just enjoy things. Like math? Take a challenging math class. Interested in the body? Take an anatomy class. Picking a career should ultimately be about what you like to do. If you like to sew in your free time, then you could be a designer or own a small dress boutique. If you like to cook think about a career in culinary. No one knows you more than you. Don't stress, take your time, and if you decide later it's not what you want to do you can change your mind cause it's your life! :)
Reply:Dont worry so much. High school is suppose to be the best part of you whole school career. Dont listen to those people, all the teahcers and guidance department told everyone that some students dont no what they want to be until they are seniors. So you have a while to be thinking about college. Just take regular classes.

High school?

im in the 8th grade, and next year i will be going to high school. does anyone have any tips or and advice so i dont let thigs get to me, since everyone says high school is a big part of my life, and there is lots of drama all the time. so some advice would be great.. thanks.

High school?
Well at 29 I can sadly say high school were some of the best times of my life. I had fun, way too much fun. You can expect to mesh and form all new different crowds with the mixing of other jounior highschools. You can expect a much fuller work load. Here (if not already) you will be faced with drugs and booze at parties (I really recommened not taking drugs, if anyone calls you *insert bad word here* tell them to cram it). You can definitley expect that you WILL fall desperatley in love with a hot senior boy lol and you are going to make A LOT of new friends and learn what activities you really like and such. That's coming from my experience which was a really good one, though I should have studied harder when I look back cause I don't know my *** from my elbow on how to get places lol. Anyway dont be nervous, it's a new phase in your life that kind of gives you a new chance to start over and re-invent yourself :)

p.s. as for the drama part, it's always going to be drama throughout your life. You expect people to mature and such but they really don't drama is drama and B.S. no matter what age someone is. Sad but true. You'll do fine.
Reply:I skipped the eighth grade and went straight to high school. The most useful thing that I have found to do is to use an agenda. Just get an ordinary notebook, write the date, and write your homework under it, it can keep you very well organized. No matter what, finish your homework, you can easily get an A or B if you just do your homework on time. Also, get a large, heavy duty, backpack.
Reply:high school is good life! im a junior right now and i pretty much enjoyed my high school years. just be yourself and don't be nervous on the first day... and, choose your classes wisely so that you can prepare for college no-problem. just enjoy life as it is... you'll meet alot of friends in high school, and you'll have boyfriends, too. just don't let yourself get too far of the road. =)
Reply:I just graduate from high school last year and now in college. High school is fun... I know i had lots of fun. Go to the football and basketball games, the little fun events (dances and stuff), and get invovled in clubs you think you will enjoy. Because you are going to be a freshman the upper classmen will walk over you... You will do it too when you become one. LoL...

Upperclassmen guys will try to talk to you, because you a freshman and guys think of you as new meat and easy to get over... Dont pay them no mind but dont act stuck up about it. Girls will hate on you because you look better or have this and that. People will talk about you regardeless if its true or not. DONT PAY NONE OF THEM ANY MIND, but DONT LET THEM WALK OVER YOU. Find a clique that will support you and your friends from middle school will change and you might not hang with them anymore... It's life. Get to know people. Dont stay around drama.

Do your class work, home work, make good grades, and talk to your teachers. Some teachers are cool others are not... You'll find out who. Dont stress.

Most of all, make the best out of it... You dont have to Miss Perfect, just do your best. When people say these are your best years they're not lying... It'll be over faster than you think and you'll be in my position sitting in college living off your family and the government money and going by your rules... Now thats the life.

Have fun!!!
Reply:I'm actually having more fun after high school than I did in high school. I worked hard to keep my grades up, went to college. Now I have a great job where I can travel all over the world.

Here's my tip: have great friends. They are the ones who will understand what you are going through.
Reply:well.... my advice is that there's lots of bullies. dont let them get to you. ignore them. boys:

if you are pretty and cute then BOYS is a big prob. they can get in love with you and ask you OUT. you should choose the boy that is: Dependable, Smart, Caring, and Nice. remember my advice!!

High school?

Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, 'surely I can't look that old? well...you'll love this one. My name is Alice Smith and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his DDS diploma, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome,dark-haired boy with the same

name had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then? Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought.

This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park

high school.

"Yes. Yes, I did. I'm mustang," he gleamed with pride.

"When did you graduate?" I asked.

He answered , "in 1959. Why do you ask?"

"You were in my class!", I exclaimed.

High school?
I'm a junior and i still don't have a g/f!!u go on Ur pace, for some it's easy 2 gt one and for others it take some time. u go on Ur pace and u decide if u want a b/f or g/f. u can get on the first semester, second 10 th grade etc..only u can decide that!
Reply:who cares just enjoy high school dont wory bout boys yet
Reply:Are you obsessed?

Just go to high school and you will find someone - It all depends on your personality.
Reply:don't rush it. trust me. if you do your knight in shining armor could turn out to be a loser in aluminum. you're going to have so much of a rush when you start high school with work and popularity and everything else. i'm not sayin you shouldn't get a bf, they're fun toys lol. but don't ever settle for a guy or just go out with him just to add to your list or whatever.
Reply:um, getting a boyfriend shouldn't be your main issue. start by getting used to high school and adjusting to your work load. plus, just because there are a lot of people there doesn't mean you will be friends with all of them. my first year in high school i made friends with a small group of people and hardlly knew anybody that wasn't in my classes. trust me. you'll be fine.
Reply:high schools nuts.
Reply:Nope, didn't have a bf until Grade 12. But why do u need a bf or gf really fast? Just enjoy high school, don't worry about things like that.
Reply:You'll have some seniors trying to hit on you and take advantage of you at parties and the what not. Have fun with that, watch for rape.
Reply:i didnt have any
Reply:don't rush it
Reply:at least one

For all the single ones out there looking for romance:

http://gogo.kubera.ro/passion/passion.ht...
Reply:i dont think that's the first move you should be doing once in high school.

you should first learn about the different areas of the school. the set up of who hangs out where. build friendship with new people and get to know your new vicinity.

maybe when its closer to the end of the year, you would have already learned a lot about the different people there and you would have a better outlook on who think you actually like. then pursue them. then spend the summer with them and then start the sophomore year again, but a lil bit more popular in having a lot of friends from different grades.

have a great year and many more to come!

Reply:Does it really matter? It's high school. Just do your homework.
Reply:It depends on your personality. usually yeha you can but there is no gauruntee. it depends on whta you want in a person.
Reply:I guess it depends. I didn't have bfs until 11th grade, and none of them went to my school. Some of them were in college. So I dunno, maybe things will be different for you. Good luck.
Reply:all guys wanna do in highschool is get as much *** and drink as much booze as they can so girls should do the same

do i even make sence up there
Reply:Well, I chose the route of celibacy in high school and had a great time, so I'm not an expert on the topic. That being said, I'm sure you could get a boyfriend as fast as you'd want, but it wouldn't mean anything. Wait for someone special to appear.
Reply:it depends if you find someone or not

and dont be too shy or anything
Reply:do u mean best freind or boy friend?im not in hs but...................

Reply:right now i have a boyfriend...but he is an 8th grader and im a freshman..i guess it all depends on ur attitude and how u look at life and stuff...this is my 1st year...i do have a b/f...so ya...good luck in high skool...u will have ALOT of fun...trust me

High School?

My little cousin is going into high school and wants a little change. What are some new things to try for style and stuff with high school? Any suggestions are good:) Thanks:)

High School?
my forte i've already graduated form high school so I can help if she's wants change she can go vintage and or funky or a little wild if that's her taste. why don't you two go shopping the mall and have a girls day out and have fun looking for a new look for your cousin and she will thank you and this is a different experience than being in junior high she's older now i bet when she goes to high school boys might look her way and like her style but if she's fair or light-skinned pick peach, light pink tan medium tan but no orange bad idea and pick clothes that goes by the school dress code you'll thank me later she won't be sent to the principal's office all year. and not so short with the skirts are you wouldn't hear the end of it from her teachers. no loud colors with makeup just a smidge if your aunt lets her wear makeup. if she has long hair get her ends clipped every six weeks so she won't have split ends.
Reply:dude i dont think i've ever worn make up to school

its utterly pointless for me when you go to an all girls high school

:(
Reply:haircut or get highlights.
Reply:well im in high school now, and there are basically one or two main things to remember.

one: try to dress to impress. the best way to get noticed is to wear what is "in", ie.. a%26amp;f, hollister, juicy...

another thing could be to wear a little makeup everyday, not to showoffish, but noticable, so it looks like you care about your apperance. :]

well, style wise, those are 2 good things to remember.. but i guess another piece of advice i could give is do not OVERDO it. haaha, but i guess that applies to everything people do..

well, i hope that helped :]
Reply:Weyull...she probably needs new hair(cut.color, and style) a good bra, some un-granny like undies(thong?) and have a nice smile on her face. she should be fine. =D
Reply:drop out
Reply:change the way she wears her hair...wear more mature jewlery, no more plastic stuff(if u wear that)(fake silver or gold is ok)...wear heels more often..if u dont already wear them alot...a little makeup..like jus eyeliner and lipgloss since shes a freshman.
Reply:how bout a hair cut and coloured, new brand name clothes and something special that will help make them "THAT" person

High School?

Um.........ok i'm going onto high school and non of my friends are going to the same high school as me and i'm freaking out. Is that normal or am i just wierd?

High School?
it's normal to freak out but you will not be the only one in that situation. You will make new friends easily.
Reply:your not weird.....I ahd to go to a new state, new high school,...new everything without my friends ...i freaked out....but the best thing to do is be open to making new friends...that is the best advice I can give!:)
Reply:normal and im sorry that ur friends moved :(
Reply:heyy dont sweat it.

its TOTALLY normal.

high school is a big step in you life

and of course its scary, but midway through

freshmen year you will realize, hey its just school!

it will be tough to make new friends but you can do it.

listen, i went to a different school for freshmen year

than i did this year for sophomre year and im terribly terribly

shy. i had to restart at a new school twice in two school years

and heyy im alive, happy, and have amazing friends.

if I can do it you certinaly can. make the most out of your

high school career. join some clubs or sports. they help

to make friends. be outgoing and above all BE YOURSELF!

upperclass men HATE freshmen that are immature fake wannabes. so relax and have fun.
Reply:This is the part where you grow up. Become independent in all areas especially thinking. High school is where you set yourself apart from the followers and become a leader. Your social skills and problem solving skills will be tested here also, so you should prepare yourself by just being...yourself. Remember your friends are just a cell phone away and you'll still see them after school. Relax!
Reply:it's normal and trust me it's okay. i went through the same thing and it really isn't that hard to make new friends. no need to fret. i freaked out because i was afraid no one would care to meet me but now i have a best friend and she's awesome. it's all good! =]
Reply:Of course it's normal! It's only natural to feel scared or a bit lonely when you don't know anyone. I'm sure you'll make friends, because most likely there will be people there that don't have any of their friends too.
Reply:not at all!

im going to be a sr next year and going in to high school i was freaked out too!

high school is sooo much fun and its even better becasue you are going alone so you can meet new people and still have your old friends.

dont worry

you are so lucky

you can start over and still hav eyour old friends

have a fantastic summer

and have an even better time next fall!
Reply:normal same thing is happening to me
Reply:oh your perfectly normal, im moving to a new school with no friends and I know what your going through. but everythings going to be ok youll find new good friends and still talk to the old ones as much as you can. good luck!!!
Reply:its normal just dont forget ur old friends when u meet new ones.
Reply:It is totally normal! I'm going into my sophmore year. When i went to highschool "alone" i knew absolutly no one! I was worried like you! Don't be though its not a big deal as you might think! You will make friends in no time! When i was in the same position as you by the end of the first week i had 30 new friends! Thats a lot considering my class is only of 250 instead of the normal 500! If you go to a bigger school you'll make twice as many new friends! Highschool is SOOOOO fun! My freshman year went by so fast! Don't worry at all! Just be prepared for the time of your LIFE!!!!
Reply:Don't worry!

I went to high school with ALL my friends

Within 2 days I found completely new friends

I still see my old friends but my new friends and AMAZING!

You can be friends with everyone, old and new

Remember, everyone will be eager to meet new people and form new friendships

And I'm sure there will be plenty of other people in your situation

Think of it as a new start

Smile, be friendly and approachable but stand your ground and you should find new friends in no time

Don't forget your old friends though

You can still have loads of fun together and think about it, late on you will be invited twice the parties

There, you can meet new people and pretty soom you'll have loads of friends and be miss popularity!!!

So have fun and enjoy High School

High school?

i'm going into high school this fall, and i am nervous.

i'm a shy person but once you get to know me i am alot of fun.

i want to break out of my shell. how can i do that?

also if i dress in nice clothes will i be not a loser?

please help me and tell me more about high school.

thanks!

High school?
well, try to chill and not care what people think. don't dress to be cool, dress to look nice and feel nice. don't be mean to people, and make jokes with people. you know you are lots of fun, so don't let your shyness get in the way. try to make sure you don't become too much of the class clown, but just the nice person who has wicked awesome fashion sense and is a lot of fun.

Go to forever 21 and get some trendy jewelry. If you have some plain tee shirts, in nice colors, wear them with jewelry. If you have a nice blazer for fall (leather/cashmere/wool)and a nice wool coat for winter and proper footwear (black leather knee high boots, with a thin 1-2 inch heel for winter and fall, and nice basic pair of black leather shoes with a 1 inch heel for summer) Go to tj maxx/ winners/ marshalls for all these basics. Also, check out old navy for tanks and t-shirts in fun colors, there perfect fit tees and tanks have awesome color selection and great prices. Get three plain solid color (not black/white), and three color plain tees. no emblems and no stripes

When fall comes, look for some merino wool or cashmere sweaters in fun colors. Feel the wool first, if its itchy... Ditch it. V necks and scoop necks are really flattering, so look for these. A nice pair of Jackie. O. sunglassics, and nice bag to carry your books in, and fashion wise your set;. Don't forget a nice tiny leather purse to take from class to class in a color you like, that you think goes with your outfit ... it should fit some lipbalm and/or gloss and if you have one a celly and/or wallet.

Look for off fifth saks fifth avenue or last call neiman marcus for really great basics, like the ones I listed above... they have coupons all over the web. try to look for coach/ dooney outlets close to your house. check out the webbies to get a gist of price points for all these purses and clothes, so you'll know how much your saving. also, look for coupons on the outlet malls site.
Reply:Always voice your opinion even if its contrary to what others think. (especially if its contrary) Being different and having a different way of thinking makes you stand out. Standing out is a good thing. Just be yourself this summer. Go to the beach with friends. Say HI to everyone you see from school and let them know your still alive. Come fall... they will still remember you, but know you a little bit better. Good luck
Reply:im not in highschool yet, but i do know alittle about fashoin. go check out forever 21. its cheap and every thing in there is 'in'. dont worry about getting something 'ugly or boring'there because you wont
Reply:high school will ethier love you or hate you. it depends of what you make of it. just find a good group of friends...and dont change your self. concentrate on school, grades, and geting into a good college. trust me, it all starts freshman year. dont worry about being "cool". highschools are so big conpared to middle school, its jsut totally different, you notice that what you wear the first couple months doesnt matter. its just so different that jr. high. just go into it with an open mind.
Reply:Right now layers are in. so are flats all year but wedges mostly in the spring. try some silver hoop earings, they never fail. You can wear headband too but make sure they coordinate with your out fit.
Reply:I just graduated high school yesterday. Congratulations! High school can be really fun if you find a group of friends who are nice and you are comfortable with. Don't try to dress like the "in crowd", just be yourself!
Reply:high school is nothing to be worried about . I was a little shy myself when i was a freshman but now its a breeze and im finally a senior. But the first thing that you should do is wear clothes that you like and are comfortable in, don't were anything just because someone else is or just because you think that it will make you cool. Finding your own individuality is what high school is about. Once you do that you will meet more friends like youself and that will help you break out your shell.
Reply:i just graduated high school. if you are outgoing, funny, carefree, people will love you. and also don't be annoying or fake.

:)
Reply:theres nothing to be scared of wen u go upto highschool, u will love it!

just try and talk to more people and feel confident!

yea wearing nice clothes mite make you feel beta with yourself and help you break out of your shell.

Reply:I just graduated a year ago, pick your friends wisely there's no point in being a real popular person when they start talking about you behind your back and start a lot of drama. Do you homework, you'll thank yourself when you become a senior (trust me I should know, me not doing my homework..ugh I regret it lol). If you wanna break out of your shell um join clubs talk a lot even if your shy I know it's hard I was shy too when I was in High school I didn't break out of my shell til about my senior year. As for dressing, wear what you want, you don't have to copy from other peoples clothing, wear what you feel is what you want to wear. If you need clothing ideas check out some magazines but that doesn't mean you have to spend loads of money to look nice. Dressing in nice clothes doesn't guarantee that you not going to become a loser it's more about personality, but that doesn't mean you have to become promiscuous either. High school can be cruel but just remember your in it for the education not a popularity contest

HIGH SCHOOl?

i'm going to high school this fall and i'm kinda worried about what it will be like. what are some ways to get good grades? and what about fitting in and all that stuff? tell me about your high school experience if you want. thanks!

HIGH SCHOOl?
high school is awesome... lots of girls... oohh and just do all your homework and classwork and you will be fine... dont ditch that much either.... dont worry about fitting in theres plenty of people in high school, all kinds of people so you'll be fine... DONT BE ANTI-SOCIAL because that will not help in making friends.. be outgoing..be yourself...
Reply:well this how you can get good grades by not letting other kids get you into trouble and studying for testes and focus in class.
Reply:I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the day you start High School, your soul will be stripped from your body. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, this is what it's like. Classes are long, kids are mean, and by the end you won't even care if you get **** grades, you just want to get OUT! It doesn't matter if you are smart or not, my IQ is 135, and my GPA is a 2.1 at best. Just try, try to get through, it's so LONG!! I'm still in ******* High School, but I'm getting out this summer. It's like ******* Jail!! They control you... For instance, I myself am a smoker, yet I have to be 'written up' by the 'security' staff, day, after day, after day. I'm being punishedd for a habit I can't control, I couldn't quit if I wanted to. Getting good grades is another thing, even if you work your *** off, you may not get good grades, it's just a ******* lottery, depends on the teachers and the counselors you get. You have to learn it 'their' way, which is supposedly the 'right way'... I do have good news for you though, don't worry about fitting in at all, I have a ton of friends and we're all ******* up so it's kind of ok... I will say this though, come senior year, you must have college planned out, becasue that is your ticket out. I have a few friends who don't know what they're doing, and I pity them, 'cause I got into a good school and I'm getting out. I'm really sorry, but people are gonna tell you that it's "not so bad" but it is, it REALLY REALLY is...

And this is an authentic answer from someone who is currently in High School. So remember if you think you're enjoying High School, you are going insane, there's no other explanation for it.. Ummm, Good Luck...

High School?

Hey! In september i'm off to high school. Are there any hints and tips i could use;what should i bring; and most of all what can you tell me that you wish someone told you before you went to high school?

High School?
1) Get involved! Don't be afraid to try out for activities you think you'd enjoy including clubs, sports, journalism, etc.

2) Be friendly. Smile to people and I guarentee they'll like you. :)

3) Get help when you need it. Once you start not understanding stuff, go ahead and take advantages of the time the school allots for getting help, whether it be at lunch or after school. Don't be afraid to ask your teachers questions, but then again, don't just ask stupid questions about everything. Try your best to understand the material first.

4) Use an organizer. This will help you keep track of what hw assignments you need to do, and just help you later in life too when you need to be organized.

5) Focus on your goals. Make a list of what things you hope you accomplish through high school (socially, academically...) and realize what's most important to you.

6) If the teachers ever give you review problems before a test or a final, DO THEM. Even if they're optional.

Good luck in high school!

just have fun, it's high school. u get to see all ur friends, maybe u'll be in the same classes as them. i always looked forward to that. and those 4 years are going to be the best times of ur life. i know it was mine. i met so many new friends. and the teachers were wonderful.

as far as what to bring to school, u don't need too much on the first day if i remember correctly. u go to homeroom, get ur schedule, find ur classes, get ur syllabi, learn class policies, and receive ur books. oh, and don't forget. go find ur locker and make sure it works :)
Reply:dont get beat up
Reply:Be yourself, Dont wear a massive bag!!! That annoys us lol. Dont stop right in the middle of corridors. Be cheerful and you will be fine and make great friends in the first week. High school really isnt as scary as some people think!

Good Luck.
Reply:when u go to high school looks like u come in another world about lessons and actions.

Reply:You should bring you note books pencils paper and stuff like that so you can put your stuff i your locker(If it works) and study hard not too hard you dont want to make your self sick! The main point is to have fun

♥Maddy♥
Reply:Study hard!!! Don't screw around your freshman year. Keep your gpa up. Stay organized. Learn to write well, because that is a necessity.
Reply:Most people in high school are looking to beat someone up or rob someone so, look tough.
Reply:umm, i think you should be yourself and bring anything u want.
Reply:good luck!

High school?

What high school do you or did you go to?

What was it like?

What were you considered to be?( i.e. :prep, goth, jock, ect.)

What was or is the best and wort part of high school for you?

Best answer will go to most thurogh response(meaning you have to answer all the questions)

High school?
- went to Auburn Riverside High School

-it was a new, "rich kid" school, very crouded hall ways but everyone was pretty nice. The sports teams always lost!

- was considered to be the class clown

-the worst part about high school was getting up early in the morning. (I still have to but I get paid to get up and go to my job). I also didn't like being required to take jobs that wouldn't help me with what career path I had chosen (IE: Art, Gym, and Geometry) none of those helped me become a dental assistant!

High school?

what is your high school most saved memory or something you will never forget about high school?

High school?
i will never forget all the 9th grade perverted jokes

%26amp; i will never forget my friends and class mates

All of Danes stories

The crush i had for 4years and still do....

good times good times
Reply:Oh man did you ask a great question. For my high school senior trip we went to the grand canyon and hiked to the bottom where my friends played a really funny joke on me they tied me up at the bottom and covered me with goat blood. Anyway i struggled for several hours to get free from the ropes and eventually I did, but by that time there were several hungry wolves that I had fight off, but unfortunately they bit my leg cause me a severe limp that I would not be able to walk back up with. So I spent 3 days making a make shift raft to float down the river. once my raft was built I traveled several miles down stream where I met an Indian tribe that wasn't very friendly to "white folk" and was held prisoner for several months and beaten daily. I was eventually freed in the NAUS treaty of 1976. But man best times of my high school.

High school?

ok well next year im going into high school and so far i have all honors classes that i know of except for one class, and math im going into algebra 1 college track. what does algebra 1 college track mean? am i getting college credits while im in high school?

High school?
mhm! :]
Reply:No. It means you're in the class that'll prepare you for college-level math stuff. There's at least three, sometimes a fourth level, not including special ed classes: dumb math, college prep math (which is what you're in), and honors math, and sometimes AP math, depending on what school you're at.
Reply:yes

High School??

Well i live in england but when i sixteen im going to an american high school will i fit in being the new kid in high school??Thanks

High School??
Americans love the English accent.

Please be kind to the opposite sex. They will do whatever you want. Expect a little jealousy from the same sex, so I recommend going without a boyfriend (or girlfriend) for awhile and get some friends that will last and show you around- you know the school politics.

I moved alot growing up and it has it's advantages, but it can also suck. You will have to get out of your comort zone at times and experience new things, but don't go crazy with it.

Again-Americans love the accent.
Reply:sure why not. british accents are quite cool.
Reply:I think you will fit in because in my school there is a boy that comes from uk and nobody cares he's got a lot of girls over him.So he is prety popular
Reply:i don't think you can tell just by where you're from. Everyone fits into some clique, though, so don't worry. Unless you change a whole lot, things will probably be the same as they are now.

High school...?

afraid for it..... Im in middle school right now,and i have all A's ... but i do my homework before its due... i nver take it home.... Im wondering if i should start doing it bcz in high school it will be worse and i rlly wont have time to do it b4 its due...... What do you guys think?? And i nvr study for tests; i listen in class... do u think ill not be good in high schooll.... shuld i start doing my work ahead of time and start studying to get in the habbit ??

High school...?
You will still be with the same level of kids, you will all be a year older. Your habits in class will help you even more in high school and perhaps you will not enough classtime to finish homework and will have to do it later. Do not get in the back of classes where others can interfere with your learning. Studying for tests would not hurt.

High school?

Would you ever date a guy a grade younger than you in high school? (He's also in high school)

High school?
nope it will be a bit embarassing? everyone will make fun of me and call me a slut

High school??

I'm graduating high school this May but with a low GPA. Will I be fine as long as I graduate and go to community college, then later a university, or will my poor performance in high school screw me over for the rest of my life?

High school??
Do the Community College thing, I had a horrible GPA in high school and couldnt go away to school so I started at the Community College level and it basically gives you a fresh start. I now have a 3.95 GPA and that is what the Universities look at.
Reply:Just graduate, then continue as planned. It won't keep coming back to haunt you, unless you're trying to get into an ivy league type of school. Spend a year or two there, getting your gpa on track while working on the general eds. You seem to be committed now, and that's half the battle! Good luck.
Reply:I'm also planning out my life... Truely, I've had alot of teachers who had a rough time in high school, and left with poor grades, they tell me, and I will tell you.

Go to a cumminity college, follow up with a tech school, or university, figure out what you want to do as a life profession - And follow that, do not compromise, as working a job you hate will be miserable, even with high pay. Working a job you love for less pay will proove more satisfying, and will be worth it once you get higher up!

High School?

I want you to make me an outfit for the first day of high school.

I like the preppy style;

Hollister

American Eagle

They are my favorite-

I also want you to give me advice on how to dress everyday.

Or the neccesities I need to start high school!!

I hope you like one if them outfits!!! Have a great 1st day in your cool outfit :o)
Reply:Just a tip, dress how you want and be who you want and you'll be fine
Reply:if you're a prep, you're gonna wear brands like those, obviously.

don't overstress...or overdress.

its no big deal, i learned that noone cares about freshman.

so dress like you normally do, with key basics.

i know i love my american eagle short shorts, but those are the only brand thing i have because im not that preppy, im more retro %26amp; such.

so again, dont worry about it!
Reply:Well the styles change a lot, so you might not like the outfits when school starts.
Reply:http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp...

http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp...

just dress like your self and dont wear to much makeup because guys hate that. wear natural makeup
Reply:just a tip, dress with what makes you feel comfortable and stylish at same time.
Reply:something simple and elegant... trash the typical teen clothing store stereotype.. WOWWW
Reply:High school is all about how you dress. Just dont f up the first day or youll be a loser the entire time. I say go nude. That way theyll never forget your first day, and no one picks on the naked girl. They all pick on the smelly one so take a shower.
Reply:alright i am preppy as well and love those stores! so here is what i would wear...

1. This cute tank from HCO in dark pink:

http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/st...

2. These plaid shorts from American Eagle in the red plaid:

http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp...

3. Then these flip flops from HCO:

http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/st...

and then you could do like a silver necklace or bracelet!

also for the shirt you could also do a white tank top! i hope you like it and i hope i helped you out!
Reply:do yourself a favor and don't buy anything that says "american eagle" or "hollister" because that is SO un-original.

High school?!?!?!?

Yes i am exited, but very nervous,is it really that bad? i am scared that i won't have any of my best friends in any of my classes, or during lunch, and the first day of lunch, i might go crazy! Can you give me any tips of what to do, besides to make friends, cause i can't make friends with lots of people in the first week, i am sorta shy when i first meet somebody, but when i am with my friends, i go crazy.I just wish that in high school all of the grades wern't combined together. So any tips how to survive the first day and first week of high school???HELP!!

High school?!?!?!?
I went through it last year, it wasn't that bad. If you get your schedules before school starts, talk to your friends about where to sit at lunch. If you dont get your schedule, or dont have friends in your lunch(happened to me), just sit by someone you know, until you make friends in that lunch. I was shy too, but I found an xc person and his friends, I after awhile, I was friends with them.

There is a really small chance that you wont have any friends in any of your classes, so dont worry about that.

Also, if your in a sport or activity that starts in the summer, you'll make friends easily.

High-school is really fun, and you shouldn't spend too much time worrying about it. I put you in my about me thingy, and if you have myspace, i put that too.(its private, so you have to send me friend request to see it.)

HAVE A GOOD FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH-SCHOOL, freshman year is the most fun.
Reply:I don't have aim. I just made my myspace last week, cause before I thought it was really stupid, then I wanted to try it out, and now i'm addicted to it. I put it on public, so you can see it if you like. Your into soccer, right? Can't wait for the 2010 World Cup, it's gonna be amazing! Report It

Reply:I remeber being really nervous on my first day of highschool. I guess it just helps to remember that everyone is, even though they may not seem like it. Also, now that i've finished high school and have spent a year in college, I can tell you that things that seem like a big deal in highschool really arent... if I could go back I wouldnt have stressed about who would be in my classes and who i would sit with at lunch.. in the end, it doesn't really matter. But, I imagine you are looking for more direct, practical advice. I would say that you will most likely know people in your classes.. at least enough to sit next to them and say "hey".. even people you don't know.. if you are friendly you'll make some great new friends. I had a set of friends when I entered highschool.. and ended up making all new friends with people i didnt know that i just talked with in class. These people are now my best freinds even in college. Basically just be friendly, even if you are shy.. which i was too. Be yourself, and try to relax as best you can. You will be fine :)
Reply:Honey, when I say this,I mean it. Don't worry about not having any friends there at all! You will most likely meet a couple friends in the first day. I totally doubted it but so true!

Lots of times you won't be in the same classes as your best friends, but usually one or 2. And even so,you'll make new ones! And let yourself go crazy as you meet new people!

Trust me on this, there's nothing to worry about! Maybe meet with some of your friends form your old school to walk into highschool at first so you won't be so nervus. Even if you do have to leave eachother after.

And don't worry, the worst part of highschool is that you get lost if you lose your map! Take 2. xD
Reply:just relax and enjoy yourself. High school was some of the most fun I had as a teen. Just make friends with people around you and then you will meet there friends and before you know it have a new group of people you love to hang out with.
Reply:high school is not as bad as people make it out to be. just stay out of the way of the older students, don't look for a fight, stick with the friends you have. you will make friends with other people as the school year continues. good luck!
Reply:High School isn't exciting as it seems. I was worried about this at first, but everything seemed to work out. I atleast had one friend in every class. Maybe you should see if you and your friends signed up for the same classes. If not talk to some older classmen in your class.. ask for help and maybe you guys will be come friends. Don't think high school is too fun, it is fullll of drama! Hope you enjoy.
Reply:Confidence young grasshoppa. Its not bad either road you take. Friends come with any club, and any class. Be yourself.

High school was always interesting, so yeah. Fun fun fun
Reply:chill out, relax, breath and repeat.. really once you enter highschool you will notice that the far upperclassman have more "manners" than the lower you are generally their not at war.. and at least in small schools.. never been to a big school but should be the same you got a few jerks here and there ingore them.. make sure you study for you exams and sleep well before them, don't be late to class and generally you will see your friends at one point or another.. but remember you can always make new ones for each class too.. it's really never that bad.. it can be overwhelm to a few bc their not use to the not being directed on what to do as much.. and haveing combining grades are great especially if you can the right teachers that are fun and do games.. against the classes bc generally its always the freshman to when.. or sophmores

just remember to have fun, even through though boring classes..

social problems only last so long- just make new friend and keep your old ones even if you still have them in every class it always good to have more

educational- study, flash cards.. tons of flash cards. ask questions

you'll be fine just chill, relax and breath
Reply:High School isn't bad at all. Yes, it can be a little overwhelming because you're almost entering a new world. All you have to do is take things as they come. As for your friends, you probably all won't have the same schedule but that's okay. You can hang out before school, during breaks, and after school.

If you find that you're alone for any time outside of class, for example lunch, go ahead and approach somebody. If you're alone on the first day and you don't make an attempt at making any new friends, you're going to be alone for the entire year. If approaching a group is too hard, talk to somebody who is also alone. All freshman are feeling the same as you are, just remember that.

On the first day of high school, I was alone in PE. After maybe the first fifteen minutes, I noticed a girl that looked similar to me in terms of the way we dressed sitting by herself. I went up to her, introduced myself, and simply said, "Hey, I'm going to hang out with you now. I'm sick of standing around by myself." And she laughed and we started talking. We've been really good friends ever since then and that was 7 years ago!

Just be cool and remember that there was hundreds of other kids at your school who feel the same you feel. Good luck on your first day! I hope you and your friends schedules coincide all day.
Reply:don't worry, the first couple days of high school are always the scariest. if you are a bit shy and don't know what to talk about, think of somethings to talk about ahead of time like, "did you do anything over the summer?" or "have you seen so-and-so movie?" or you could talk about teachers and what the classes could be like. i don't find it very likey to have NO classes with any of your friends. it does sound crazy but high school is lot easier than middle school. give it a couple of weeks and if i'm wrong, you are free to send me angry complaint emails. have fun!!

High school?

im in high school and its cool and all but i wanna know who u feel bout beimg in high school.

High school?
I am in college and graduated 2006. High school was really hard for me but I got through it. If I could go back and do it again I think that I would have been more involved with at least one club or something. High school really prepared me for college. Try your best and it will make college way easier to handle.
Reply:I love high school!

Can't wait to see another fight!
Reply:im just ready to make it out of the middle, but then again im so scared of being in high school cuz thats where grades really matter, and colleges start looking at u and stuff.....im scared of it but it also sounds cool to me,like theres so much stuff u can do at high school that u cant do in the middle, u get so much more freedom but then again u get so much more responsiblilities, not mention drama.....i heard its crazy, sumtimes its sooooo fun, sumtimes its like going thru hell, watever it is im just ready to ride the rollercoaster.
Reply:high school is great!

you will love it.

and all those things everyone says like being thrown in trashcans, freshman hunts, and like pranks whatever.

there not true.

i was motified of them and nothing even happened. nothing at all happened it was like middle school or any other school just more people more classes and cooler lunches.

:]
Reply:Yea. Its cool i guess. The cons are the parents, but I love getting to see my friends. But lik. the thought of college scares me. =/ idk. but yea. High school is cool.
Reply:It's hard, but if i do all my work then a lot of weight comes off my shoulders. In high school the teachers don't remind you as much to do your work because they want you to be more responsible.

High school???

Hi I am a grade 7 girl who is going to high school very soon. How is high school? Are the teachers nice? Are the students welcoming? Is the homework hard and how much homework to we grade 8's get a day? Is it easy to make friends? THANKS!!

High school???
Tthere is definitely more work in High School and you have to take it more seriously 'cause those are the grades colleges will look at when you apply. Also, people tend to be more competitive. But, at least in my experience, because people are more directed, there is sometimes less petty rivalry.

There are also more opportunities to do interesting things in high school, new extra-curricular activities, new sports, and you'll probably meet a lot more new people. Have fun it's a great time of your life.
Reply:There is more work involved and heaps more homework. At high school you get to choose electives depending on the school. You have more teachers for different subjects. My daughter goes to a private Catholic School and they expect students to do at least 60 to 80 minutes of homework in year 8.More in the senior years.
Reply:For me High School is fun and easy. Don't believe what others saying that high school is hard and boring. Believe me I think it is fun and I'm only a freshman.
