High school!?

I am in eighth grade and i will be going to high school next year. Is it scary cus i am nervous i wont have any of my friends in any of my classes and i am a very shy person. I just want to know if the first week of high school if scary and how to make new friends.

High school!?
I felt the same way when I was about to go to high school. But you will have classes with people you know because all freshmans have to take the same core clases such as english I (or freshman english) and history, etc. The first week of high school may be a little difficult, but as time goes on you will get adjusted. One way I made new friends (I had to make all new friends, I was a transfer student) was to sign up for classes that I knew upperclassmen were going to be in, that way I would meet people in different grades, and not just have freshman friends. I also joined a couple of clubs my freshman year. If you are athletic joining sports is a great idea, if not join the pep squad or be a team manager. I think the key is to meet a variety of people and not just belong to one particular clique. Also, be nice and be confident. Know you who want to be and mold that image into the person that you already are. I was shy at first, but now I am comfortable with myself and my school. Good Luck. P.S: Pay attention during orientation, getting lost the first week of school just shows everyone that your a freshman and they may not be nice.
Reply:being in 9th grader no it wasnt scarry basically cuz my high school sucks. I hate it. Everyones stuck up. I don't have any friends there I hate it
Reply:Personally, I think high school is easier than middle school. People care less about insignificant things like how your hair looks and what clothes you wear because, if they aren't your friends, you don't really matter to them. The "popular" people don't pick on others much anymore either, at least in my experience. Don't be afraid!
Reply:I was in your situation when I went to high school. But I carried myself with confidence and I told my self that although it's nice to have a great social life, my purpose for being here is to work hard, learn lots of things and prepare myself for a college and a successful future. I ended up making lots of friends because I joined clubs and played sports. And all of those people share things that I cared about which is why we became friends in the first place. Follow my advice and high school will be a great time for you. Good luck! You have lots of learning, fun and friends to make ahead of you.
Reply:Here's the thing: on the first day, you either have to kick someone's ***...or be someone's *****. Oh sorry, thats prison...

High school can be a pretty intimidating experience if you don't know anyone. I went to school in the next town (better school) and I felt like an outsider for a couple months until I made new friends. However, you said that you already went to school with the incoming Freshman class, so you've got it just as good as anyone can. How to make new friends: I would suggest joining an athletic team or somekind of club. You become friends with someone a lot faster when you see them for several hours everyday and share a common bond.
Reply:High school isn't like the stuff in the moviess...just be friendly, and you'll make friends. I didnt have my friends in my classes, but I made friends in those classes, so everything will be alright :) Good luck.
