High School?

I'm in 8th grade and I got accepted into the Stuyvesant HS, a NYC specialized public school and The Dwight School, a private school. I don't know which one to go to. They both have their own pros and cons. Money is not an issue and they are both good schools. Dwight is a private school so it's more intimate, you get more attention, and it's a chance to start all over and make new friends. Stuy is competitive, which is great for me, and it's a great school overall but a lot of people that I like and that I really wanted to shake off are going there.

I would like to hear some personal experiences from either one of the school. It would be nice if you listed some pros and cons--i.e. are the teachers good? do you have time to meet with them? Are the students clique-y? I heard about the dress code at Dwight--how strict is it? What is it exactly? And the class size at both schools would also be helpful. Anything else %26amp; personal experiences would be appreciated no matter what length. Thanks:]

High School?
hey

im a freshie at stuy so i can give you some feedback

haha dont worry about being in the same school as the people who you want to shake off

the good thing about stuy from a social point of view is that there are so many people that one rotten kid doesn't make your life miserable....while in a small private school one enemy will make all the difference and make your life a nightmare. there are so many classes that you wont even have the same classes with these people who you dislike.

STUY:

STUDENTS: theres a friend for everyone at stuy. NO CLIQUES AT ALL. everyone hangs out with everyone most of the time, and theres no popularity thing going on. in a school so focused on studying, theres no time for the whole popularity thing u might see in private schools. theres also tons of extracurriculars that appeal to different interests and are a great way to make friends

TEACHERS: all those rumors about the teachers being old and snobby are false. In fact all my teachers are young and very much alive. Yes, they give homework but they actually care about how well their students do, which is actually seen through the workload. I failed a math test once and i approached my math teacher and he explained all my mistakes to me and so then on the next test i got a 98. He was really helpful

COST: yes, cost may not be an issue, however why pay 40,000 dollars for a private school when u can go to a beautiful modern private school looking public school like stuyvesant: better education, more facilities. Its basically a private school but with better education.

CLASS SIZE: although i do not know the dwight class size i would assume that it's smaller than the 34 student classes at stuy.

the thing about stuy is that you have to be ready to take on the pressure and sleepless nights.....competition not so much.....you'd be surprised how much students actually help each other out with certain subjects.

just bear in mind that stuyvesant is ranked 15th high school in the country, with the highest admissions to ivy leagues (1 in 4 students) so like if you want a brighter future then stuy can definitely offer a great learning experience for you to help towards your long term goals
Reply:Well idk if theyre fully rite but i no dwight is a little ivy leauge which means it pretty much grants u entrance into and ivy leauuge college if u did good thru out ur years. its lik in the same catagory as fieldston and poly prep. Report It
