High school????

how can i prepare for the first day of high school?

High school????
first of all don't worry. that makes it so much worse. i actually love high school. it is heaven compared to middle school. second, get to know the layout of the school. most schools have maps available online or at the school itself. third, dont try to impress the upperclassmen. this generally makes you look like and idiot. upperclassmen actually arent that bad, just be yourself around them and you will be fine. fourth, always keep a copy of your locker combination around, and dont rig your locker! i did that and someone got in and unrigged it so i was late to class. for the first week or so keep most of your books with you until you find the shortest way to your classes. this will keep you from ever being without the proper book. i promise you if you follow this advice you will be just fine. so sit back and relax. high school is the best!
Reply:hey i was worried about the same thing im about to be a sophomore next year dont worry about it! freshman year is a lot of fun! just come with a lot of paper and pencil and some money but relax and have fun cuz you only get 1 first day of high school!
Reply:idk, im also going 2 b starting highschool in about 2 months..

scared a little..
Reply:hey fellow freshy.. i'm not sure, i'm just gonna be prepared supply-wise, do my summer reading and packets, and stick to my friends.
Reply:You really don't need anything the first day. It's pretty worthless. All the freshmen are freaking out about the first day, so teachers don't even bother to teach. They just go through the rules and it's REALLY boring. You'll listen to how you have to hand in your homework on time, raise your hand to ask a question, and how this time, you REALLY have to study for tests because they're "hard." All of them are lies.
Reply:umm just basically the way you did for middle school.. its not that hard as everyone says it is trust me
Reply:well i just finished my first year of highschool so here is my advice...

first of all-- look very cute the first couple of days for many reasons, but the most important reason is so that you will feel confident.

2--- if you go to a regular high school, the seniors will probably not be very nice especially the girls. And this might sound a little cliche but you probably shouldn't talk to them unless they talk to you. And you also shouldn't make eye contact with them. I know that sounds really weird and stuff, but it would just be extremly awkward.

3--- Stay close to your friends because they will be just as scared as you are so it will be very comforting.

4--- If you are trying to make a new name for yourself, like being the "cool freshman girl" then really play up that role. But if you don't like being in the center of attention, then don't try to be.

5--- Just be yourself, so then when you do make upperclassmen friends you make the right ones.

ps-- don't be worried about the teachers because they are all really nice on the first day of school.

Good Luck!
Reply:just go and do ur thing u dnt need to prepare or anythin
Reply:starve yourself

become very rude

only care about yourself

and

dont study but get straight A's
Reply:Show up... with a writing device and some paper. High school is cake dont worry about it.
Reply:Speaking as a high school teacher, I would say just make sure you have a notebook and a pen or pencil to take any notes necessary. You might want to bring a backpack in case some eager teachers give you a textbook the first day. (they probably won't - too many drops the first few days!)

As everyone else has said, just be yourself and don't be afraid - lots of other students are in your same situation! Hopefully, your school has a program in place so you can go ahead of time and look around in the school. We also go through a mock classday (changing classes so you can find your classrooms, meet your teachers and read your schedule). We do this on the very first day of school for the first 45 minutes or so only for the freshmen. The upper classmen come in later. It really helps...all schools should do this, especially large ones ( our high school has 2,600 students), so it is a great idea, I think!

One last hint: make sure and take some time before you throw yourself into a big friendship with any certain group of kids. Step back and watch everyone for a while before making alliances with a particular group. Try to find one other student that you already know to share lunch with and maybe a locker, if you can.

Good luck in the fall - you'll be great!!!
Reply:The best thing you can do as of now, is not worry about it. Just be who you are and get accepted by others for who you are. Make sure you are reading a lot of novels over the summer and brushing up on you handwriting, math, and science skills. Just basic stuff though, don't work too hard you still need to enjoy your break.
