High School.?

hi this freshman year in high school i want to do my best to obtain a scolarship since from 9th-12th grade, all of the grades count, any tips on how to be one of the bests students, do better work, homework projects or anything else? thanks.

High School.?
The most important thing is to develop good study habits. Do your homework just as soon as you get home, or right after dinner. It gets easier when it becomes a habit.

Make sure you understand everything. If you don't, ask someone, another student or your teacher or if you're really desperate, your parents. Learn how to do research in the library and the Internet, to find out what you want to know. This skill will really help you in college too. But for now you want to ace every test, and it's easy if you really understand the material.

It doesn't sound nice, but it's true: Colleges are looking for someone who is good at jumping through hoops, someone who really wants to succeed, and that usually means someone who works hard. This means all of the above--keeping up with homework, studying until you understand stuff, and if you don't do well on a test you ask the teacher if there's something you can do to make up the credit.

Don't get discouraged and lose your motivation! Keep your eyes on the prize, as they say.
Reply:The one thing I have learned is the teachers love it when you speak out about your opinions, not like you know everything but like you want to get involved. Other then that I was the trouble maker. Good Luck!
Reply:Take a difficult course load, take the most challenging subjects your school offers, and then simply do your best in those classes.

The kids who are the top students do several things. They study every night--not just when the test is coming up. They turn in all assignments on time (or early). They get help if they need it--and they don't wait until the final exam to admit they don't understand a concept.
Reply:no sorry i dont go to nerd high lol jkjk i would have to say that you should try your best and dont ***** 9th grade..its the easiest to fail
Reply:join any school committees, participate in council, and of course stay on top of the ball with your grades, once your nose is brown enough the counselors will take a liking to you and help you in any way to get to the top.
Reply:Dont go over your head while picking classes. Take everything seriously but dont bcome obsesvie. Find a varity of friends that can help u GL
Reply:Stay drug free.

:)
Reply:You must show you teachers and school counselor your commitment and desire to succeed. Once they know how sincere you are and how much you really do want to succeed, they will become your enablers.
Reply:Regularity is important...attend all classes

trust me, regularity makes work simple and effective
Reply:I just finished my first year at Highschool (9th grade, Freshmen), and I went in with the same goal as you...but let met tell you, it's tough. Just study, make sure to do ALL of your homework (that is the toughest thing for me, and was the reason why I only pulled of C+'s - B+'s this year) and stay after school if you have too. And if your Highschool goes by 4 quarters in the year, you CAN NOT slack any one of those quarters, because it gets averaged into the final grade.

I have found the grade system to be quite unfair, at least in my High School.

Well, good luck. High School is pretty fun.
Reply:just make sure you STUDY every night..

Review all of your notes

CLASS PARTICIPATION COUNTS!!!!

have a good attitude

do extra credit..participate in lots of activities

to do well on tests ..review all of your quiz's too! most teachers use the questions from there for tests and EXAMS
Reply:go to all classes and do what you have to do. When you come to university even a lot of students that aced high school dont make it sometimes because they are not organized. The most important thing i think you need in university is organizational abilities. If you skip classes and stuff and yet ace high school you are not really challenging yourself - and yes there are a lot of students that ace university without coming to a single lecture - but the difference again is that they are organized at home and know what to study and what parts of the books to study - High school now that i look back was the best practice for practicing organizational abilities. I could not stress it more and any university student that has good grades couldnt deny that. Good luck
Reply:ask your teachers
Reply:do better work in every field.
Reply:-take honors classes

- get involved in stuco or jrotc, scholarship bowl, or other activities your school offers
Reply:Check college listings and see which ones have the strictest credit requirements. Make sure you get all credits required for the college with more requirements. That way, you will have a broader range of colleges available to you. Keep your GPA at a 3.0 or above. The higher your GPA, the better your candidacy will be. Also, make sure to get a good ACT score (again, check the highest requirements and try to aim for that). Do your homework as soon as you get home, so you don't have to worry about doing it later. If you don't understand something in class, arrange a meeting with your teacher to try to better understand it. Talk to your counselor and see what opportunities they've got that would help you out and see if you can get double-credit for anything.

Sounds like you're already on the right path. Good luck, and good job thinking ahead!
Reply:Focus on your studies. Don't let frienships interfere. Talk to the teachers be sure they know you're not just and "A" student but an actual person. Speak up in class. Go to a community college and ask to speak with a counsler ask them for advice.
Reply:Get involved in clubs. They don't all have to be academic, try some community service ones as well. This not only look good on your resume and scholarship applications, but will put you in contact with other driven individuals who will help support you and maybe rub off on you. Expect some friendly competition between those type of friends. :) Hope that helped.
Reply:Study hard for tests, ask for extra credit, and take your time on your homework.
Reply:Procrastination is a killer. Drugs are bad! If you need help, ask for it. I never asked, and I should have. Most teachers really will help you out. Make eye contact with your teachers while they're lecturing, even if you let your eyes glaze over and think about other things. It lets them know/think that you're paying attention and that you respect them. I promise, that is one of the best things you can do.

Study for the PSAT/NMSQT junior year-- if you can get National Merit, you're set. Take the ACT and SAT early and often. I can't hurt.

If you can balance school clubs with academics, they really are a good idea. As much as grades, involvement in clubs and the community is really key on getting scholarships and even getting accepted to colleges. For all my excellent test scores and grades, I didn't have enough extracurricular activities, and it really makes a difference.
Reply:You seem to have a good grasp on what it takes to be successful already. I would like to add that you should never be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something, colleges look at extracurricular activities (so look into joining some clubs and organizations at your school), volunteer experience also helps (look for a social service agency in your area and start volunteering a couple of hours a week or even a month if you are busy), make careful choices about your friends, and go the extra mile on projects (if the project states specific instructions, take it up to the next level). It's also important to create a good rapport with your teachers and principal because they are the ones that you are going to need to write you letters of recommendation.

They do look at standardized testing too, so take an SAT or ACT prep course your sophomore/junior year. Good luck in high school.
Reply:study hard pay attention make good friends and choices and have a ton of fun. these will be the best years of your life ; )
Reply:don't procrastinate. do your homework. do good on tests.
Reply:I'll be going into my sophomore year :)

You need to try your best of course, hard work always pays off. Pay attention in class and don't spend more time thinking about what other kids think about you then doing your work and studying.

Also, take harder classes but don't freak out if you get a B. Most colleges look at the difficulty of classes and then your grades second to that. Don't waste your time getting easy A's and challenge yourself.

AND BY GOD WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!
