High school?

Being gay in high school sucks.

Agree/Disagree.

High school?
Yeah... It seems like the only two choices you have are either to stay closeted or to be constantly ridiculed and bashed.
Reply:Well...
Reply:Delete the first half of your question and you get one of the facts of life; High school sucks. Period.
Reply:agree agree a thousand times agree. i'm mortified to publicly come out just from hearing what people say about all the other gay people in our school. and we don't even have too many that are publicly gay. but they just get ridiculed so much, i wouldn't be able to bear it if i came out now. it kills me because i really do want to come out, but all the humiliation and defamation of it has made me too paralyzed with fear so i'm going to wait till after i graduate.

which sucks because after i graduate i may never see the girl i love again...

Reply:Actually, when I was in high school 'being gay' wasn't even a topic of conversation or acceptance. I was told that a man that wore red socks on Thurdays was a queer, whatever that meant. I enjoyed being in school as a closeted gay person because it was better than living at home.

Thanks for asking, though! :-)
Reply:Agree. At least for me it did. But high school itself didn't suck, just the fact that I was deep in the closet, so I couldn't have a girlfriend. I wanted one though, and was miserable about that. Other than that, high school kicked ***.
Reply:Being in high school actually sucks for everyone - some less than others - but still EVERYONE.

Being gay is just sort of the blessing! Go listen to Cherish by Madonna........and sing those blues right away.

If Madonna doesn't do it try Beautiful by Xtina
Reply:I use to not like high school because I was always paranoid at school cause I was always questioning myself whether I'm acting to girly or waking the wrong way it gets to the point were I'm like "damn, I'm tired of living this lie" so this year I was like f-it and dressed they way I wanted and acted how I should and everybody talks but know one has been crazy enough to come up in my face and disrespect and for that I'm grateful I'm not out but I'm not in anyway in the the closet by any means when it comes down to it high school is full of outsiders all trying to find a place in life and when they see a opportunity they take it
Reply:I agree! High school is a dificult time for everyone, but being gay makes it even worse!! Hang in there, you will get through it!! Good luck and play safe!!
Reply:It certainly sucked when I was in high school.
Reply:Agreed... though I think it partially depends on what school you go to and who your friends are. If you're school and friends are all homophobes, then it would obviously suck more than if they didn't care what your orientation was.
Reply:I agree, but being gay in college more than makes up for it :D
Reply:when I was first outed in high school, I became suicidal. A few days later, I was pouring out my heart to a woman in a group I belong to, she showed me love and compassion. her older brother was brought into it, he showed me love and compassion. Shortly after, the entire group (about 500 people) were brought into it...you guessed it, nothing but love and compassion. this gave me the strength and courage to face my persecutors in school and to eventually stand tall and proud (which is no easy task for a dwarf!) in our senior year (just this past year), my gf Carol and I were very public and most of the other students left us alone as far as our sexuality.
Reply:/strongly agree, its largely based on the tolerance of your school. I have a bunch of ignorant people in mine. I can be myself which feels great, but I cannot say I don't get harassed during school.
