High School?

Ok, im a sophomore in high school, I have almost all A's right now, but for my freshmen, and the first semester of sophomore year I messed up. Should I try and retake all the classes that I got D's in ? Even if I got A's from now until senior year would colleges not accept me because of how I messed up for the first year and a half ?

(I know community college is an option, so please give me other ones)

Would it be too much to try and retake every class by attending community college during the summer ?

High School?
You can't retake them for credit, so it will have no bearing on your GPA, class-rank, etc. The grades will remain on your transcript.

So, what can you do? Continue to make A's. Perform well on your SAT's and/or ACT's. You may want to consider getting involved in a summer program for acceleration/advancement .. to show potential colleges that you are very serious about your education, and are willing to sacrifice your vacation and money to better yourself.

Also, don't neglect the other parts of your high school experience. Get involved in extracurricular activites, and do more than just 'show up' .. take a leadership role in a club or in athletics.

The poor grades that you've already made are 'water under the bridge'. All you can do now is make the most of the time you have left. I am sure you will be able to find a decent college if you will continue to apply yourself and work diligently until you graduate.
Reply:Work on developing a single talent.

Don't retake classes, but keep your grades up from now on. Take an SAT prep class this summer.

I'm sure there will be many good colleges willing to accept you if you continue doing well.
Reply:Actually, no you should not retake them. Colleges will accept you and they will really see how far you have come from freshman year. More than anything it will impress them. Make sure to keep your grades up, though.
Reply:I don't think you should retake all of the classes, since I don't think you get credit for retaking classes, unless you failed them outright (at least you don't at my school). Maybe you could try retaking a few classes, the more academic ones. Like, if you got a D in art class, that shouldn't really matter, unless you want to be an artist. I think colleges would still accept you if you kept trying really hard and getting A's. I mean, you're only a sophomore. You still have two more full years to do good in. Good luck and keep trying hard! : )
