High school?

Ok, I'm a sophomore in high school, and i tend to be quieter in classes because of what people might think. I'm not quiet around people I know, but before I was quiet (back in middle school) alot of people said that I talked too much, so I had alot of enemies.. So what is worse, being hated for talking too much, or being neutural by staying silent ?

High school?
Hi. Please bear with this answer, as it may get wordy!

First of all (and probably most importantly), don't worry about what people think! People are always going to not like you for something or another, so just learn who you are and don't change yourself to gain the acceptance of others.

As an educator, I think that active participation is important in class. Answering questions and expressing thoughts in class is a benefit for you because your teacher gets to know you and you are developing a routine to express yourself in an appropiate manner, which is important in life.

It is not, however, proper to talk in class while the teacher is talking. That would be a valid reason to be disliked from both your peers and your teachers.

Maybe you had a lot of "enemies" because of what you talked about. Did you gossip? Did you air your dirty laundry? Did you give out incorrect information? Did you disrupt classroom instruction by talking? Did you tell stories (lies)? Did you talk so much that you didn't listen to friends? In all honesty, those are reasons to be disliked or to have people avoid you.

Keep these things in mind to help you with your communication:

1 - Recognize when is the time to talk and when is the time to be quiet. Know those times and do what is appropiate. God gave us two ears and one mouth - - - perhaps we're to listen twice as much as we speak.

2 - When you talk, talk for a reason. Some people just talk to hear themselves or they talk without a point. Make every word count. People will be more inclined to listen.

3 - Have the courage of your convictions. If you have to speak your mind (in the right manner) and you can support your points, then speak up!! Silence is concent and things won't change when people refuse to speak up.

4 - If you are in doubt about something or you have wrong information, keep quiet. People don't want to hear dumb, ignorant stuff. You don't want to be held accountable for passing off wrong information.

5 - Keep your private business private! Don't air your dirty laundry.

6 - Gossip is a negative form of talking . . . refrain from it.

Again I reinterate . . . BE YOURSELF!! Don't worry about what people think of you for being too quiet or too talkative. Those who are your true friends will like you just the way you are.

Hope this helps!!!!
Reply:you know what? just be yourself. it doesn't matter if people hates you for being talkative.if that is what you are, then so be it. they just have to accept you. other people will come that will like you for what you are, that no matter how noisy you are, they will still be around you coz they like you as is. you can never please everybody. there will always be one person who will not like you. SO WHAT? be yourself. that's all that matters.
Reply:well i guess being silent is better and observing more about life before reacting and next is not caring about what other people think or say
Reply:IDK...but sometimes I'm quiet and sometimes I loud and obnoxious....whatever strikes my fancy
