alright, i'm 15 and a freshman in highschool. i know that i can do a concurrent enrollment in the community college, but that will only make college go faster. i don't necessarily want college to go faster i want high school to go faster. i can't wait to get away from my family and be on my own and i figure that the easiest way to do that would be to get through school and head off to college however i'm not sure how i could make do that... any ideas? the colleges that i want to get into are relatively good( UC merced, UC san diego and possibly UCLA)
High school...?
Have you talked with a counselor at your school? I know the high school I attended and the high school I now work at will accept certain college classes in lieu of high school classes. For example, I took the introductory english classes at a nearby community college, received college credit, and transferred that credit to my high school for junior and senior English. My high school accepted a rather long list of these credits and at the beginning of my senior year, I only needed one class to graduate. I opted to take this class at the community college during the summer semester and graduated a year early at sixteen. The university I attended required me to live in their dorms because I was only sixteen, but I was still out of the house (which I later realized was a huge mistake, cut your family some slack, I'm sure they are trying. especially if they raised someone as responsible and ambitious as you seem to be). The best bet would be to seek the help of a guidance counselor. The second option you may have, dare I even suggest this...would be to find out if there are any charter schools in your area. Those are usually self paced and are geared towards people who want to graduate quickly. Actually, make that an absolute last resort.
Reply:Just about the only place you can work at 16 is a Dairy Queen. You need to see that high school is a wonderful stage of growing up. a higher education is a must now---not at the expense of not being able to support yourself.
Get over being mad at your parents.
