Is it possible to get into high school if you have been home schooled all your life??
High School?
Yes, it is. What hoops you may have to jump through to get in will differ from state to state and even district to district. If you step in at the beginning of 9th grade, it will be easier than if you wait because the school may or may not accept your other "high school" credits.
If you choose to wait, you should be able to use CBEs (credit-by-exam) to get those credits the school doesn't want to give you. Texas Tech Univ. has an accredited (meaning, it's accepted anywhere in the US) CBE program. You don't have to live in Texas to use them. I believe Univ. of Nebraska - Lincoln has something similar.
The best thing to do is get something IN WRITING from the school board and/or principal laying out exactly what you need to do to enroll. Follow those instructions to a "T" and you should be set. Best wishes!
Reply:Yes you should have no problem getting into high school, legally everyone has the right to go to public school.
Reply:Yes, but you better be ready for it education wise.
9th grade starts Geometry and Foreign Language, Biology
10th Grade is advanced Algebra and more Foreign Language and you start doing math oriented Chemistry and Physics
11th grade is Poltical Science, Trig, Pre Caclus, more Chemistry and phsyics
12th grade is Economics, Current Affairs, Calculus or Math Analsys.
Reply:Yes. But don't try it. High school is a freaky place.
Reply:Dosent hurt 2 try if it sucks get out and if u like it stay.
Reply:OF COURSE!!! you May have to pass an entrance exam or an interview, depending on which school you're intending to apply to.
i was homeschooled all my life too, longer than you. i have an American high school diploma :) my younger sis was homeschooled too and is presently studying law at the most prestigious university in Singapore, NUS. she did SAT I and II and went through an exam and an interview :)
Reply:yes, but you have to pass a test the state gives you. you can also be homeschooled for high school if you like.
Reply:YES you have to be tested to see where to put you. My nephew is doing that next year.
Reply:Private school may allow it. I remember a kid that was home schooled and came to a private school I attended. They took him down a few grades though.
He was supposed to be in grade 9 or something and he was in grade 6. My class, of course over time he got really good, and beat me for an academic award. Not fair... He should have been in grade 9 with special tutoring or something.
Reply:My question to your question is why would you want to, but that isn't any of my concern,.
I will say this: it might be difficult for the schools to place you, because you are likely advanced in some areas and weaker in others.
For instance, I am doing college level work for some things, such as English, History, and Philosophy/Worldview, at grade level on others, such as Geography, and at or possibly lower than grade level on math. Do you want to go into an arbitrary system where you will be bored to tears in most classes and not understanding some of the material in maybe one or two classes? Your choice... but I have always loved the individualization of homeschooling and I'm going to keep doing it through high school.
