Ok, im a sophomore in high school, I have almost all A's right now, but for my freshmen, and the first semester of sophomore year I messed up. Should I try and retake all the classes that I got D's in ? Even if I got A's from now until senior year would colleges not accept me because of how I messed up for the first year and a half ?
(I know community college is an option, so please give me other ones)
Would it be too much to try and retake every class by attending community college during the summer ?
High School?
Honestly, colleges care about ALL your scores, even freshman year. I am in high school myself, but I never messed up too badly. If you actually got D's, I think it would help greatly to retake classes over the summer and at least get a B. Especially if you're looking at great colleges or even ivy leagues, then you definitely should retake classes. You don't want to work hard for 2 1/2 years just to go to community college, so try to make up for your classes over the summer. Good luck.
Reply:I wouldn't advise it. Just get good grades from now on. Most colleges will find the trend impressive, especially if you pair it with a high SAT score, or extracurricular activities, such as varsity sports, etc.
If it is really that bad, then take them over - just be aware that some univs will take those failed courses into consideration anyway. The best thing to do would be to inquire at your local univ. Or ask your parents to find out. You can try the community college thing, but I'm not sure how much that will negate your bad grades.
If you have a good reason why you performed poorly, you can always write that in your application essays to the univ. Everyone likes a good underdog story...
